Big Red Rich Posted March 24, 2004 Report Share Posted March 24, 2004 I'm desperatly trying to delete my c: and start again. I'm using Windows XP on FTFS. If i start my computer up with the XP disc as ive been instructed to and delete all partitions, my computer says that it cant delete the partition as there are setup files on it!!! HELP! my computer is bogged down with so much #### and half programs its just slowing it down. Any ideas? I know about computers but never encountered these problems! Granty Posted March 24, 2004 Report Share Posted March 24, 2004 You could try booting into the rocovery console within XP ( I think its from the repair option) and there is a command line utility called diskpart, rather like fdisk that came with DOS. Have you got an upgrade version of XP or the full program, the full version will definately let you trash your 'active partiton' - I assume you are not attempting install it over the top of what you have ?? The other thing that might well be quicker in the long run is to boot from a 6.22 dos disk and use the use fdisk utility (Disk 1) and trash the Non-dos partitions (a sure way of getting rid of it !!)
