1965 24 April Revisited

Well, a wee dram helped me off to sleep at midnight & I woke up at 7.00 am ready for the big day which is also MY BIRTHDAY!!!!. I am old enough to remember 24 April 1965 when 28,000+ cheered City onto a 2-0 must win victory over Oldham to gain promotion one point behind Carlisle and just ahead of Mansfield on goal average of 1.67 to their 1.55. What a great day that was with Big John in tears in the post match celebrations. And guess what! Our first match of the 1965-66 season was a 2-1 home win over .........ROTHERHAM!

My journey to Ashton Gate will start at 10.30 am, picking up another exile & then travelling down the M42 and M5 to meet our brothers at The Cottage for the pre-match analysis and a drink or three.

This is the day when City fans will rejoice and Forest & Blackpool scrap it out in the playoffs.

COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!!
