You Are The Trainer!

Say tomorrow you were called in by Danny off the bus stop to train these monkeys to start playing football again. What decisions would you make, and what questions would you be asking yourself and the players?

for instance..

*Where would you do most of the training? at some poxy strip of land or down the Gate itself? different environments, different dimensions, different effects on players therefore different effect on play.

*How should they train- softly softly to avoid strain, or balls-out like a proper match?

*For attacking, what do you concentrate more? general offensive play? support? nice moves? shots? shot power? passing? support? one-touch-ers? staying onside?

*For the midfield, controlling the ball and moving forward? encouraging forwards to find space, or spotting the space for themselves? distracting flair to create opportunities to move forward?

*For the defense, set pieces? judging where certain plays/passes will come from? holding attackers off the ball- strength? technique? psychology? better judgement at clearing balls?

*Set pieces- lob and hope? make holes in the defence as opposed to looking for them?

*Control- more emphasis on avoiding losing the ball or gaining it? Physical training on speed or strength?

The point being that anyone who says "that's too much ###### to think about for one session" is missing something- these things look like they're not being given much thought about at all; especially tonight where our attacks were few, control was moderate, vision was poor, attacking was poor, defending was laughable, overreliance on other players when the people should be looking at no. 1 to take control, hitting & hoping etc.

Any more things you'd do?
