2006

Bristol City 2 (Jarvis 15, Lansdown 35)

Bristol Rovers 1 (Watkins 76)

First half goals from Eddie Jarvis and Jon Lansdown helped the Robins' Forum Team edge out their Rovers counterparts, who netted through Chris Watkins 14 minutes from the end.

A nervy finish was evident from the moment Watkins found the net, increased further by a late penalty save by Matty James from City's Matt Tancock. But the home side hung on to reclaim the trophy they lost to their rivals back in 2004.

Rovers could have been in front as early as the third minute when Watkins' attempted lob was held by Rich Mackinnon, while Jarvis headed over when well placed at the other end.

Jarvis went one better on 15 minutes to score the opener. After outpacing the Rovers defence he coolly slotted the ball under advancing Rovers keeper Matty James.

After a lob from Jarvis had drifted narrowly over the bar, City soon had their second goal. From the edge of the box Lansdown, son of City chairman Steve - struck a sweet left-footed effort into the top corner.

John Filliter headed against a post before the interval as Rovers tried to fight their way back into the match.

Mackinnon showed strong hands to deny David White's crisp shot from 20 yards after the restart - but he was powerless to stop Watkins' goal.

After breaking the offside trap the Rovers skipper rolled the ball into the far corner to give the visitors and their large travelling support some hope.

When Dextor Sneddon was tripped in the box four minutes from time, City had the chance to seal victory. But Tancock's spot-kick was magnificently saved by James.

However, the miss didn't cost City as referee Tony Monks soon blew for full time to begin the home side's celebrations, with Rovers director of football Lennie Lawrence handing over the trophy.

24th is the same night that 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End' is released. Cinema will be packed that day so the crowd might be a little smaller than you expect...

Not in the slightest. I work in a cinema so know some release dates. I'm really NOT looking forward to it coming out at all.
