From the Swindon Advertiser LinkSWINDON TOWN: Trust survey says no to Rovers shareThe supporters' trust insist there is massive opposition to the possibility of Town sharing the County Ground with Bristol Rovers.TrustSTFC conducted a survey on the subject and of over 300 responses, more than 86 per cent were either against or strongly against the move, with just 8.5 per cent in favour or strongly in favour.Rovers are to begin a redevelopment of The Memorial Stadium which will mean having to find a new venue for their home games for around 18 months starting midway through next season.Swindon and Cheltenham are thought to be the two options with talks known to have taken place between the clubs.Fans were also invited to give their reasons for supporting or opposing the move, and the crowd trouble at both games between the clubs this season was uppermost in the minds of those opposing the ground share.More than 90 per cent of those who were against the move cited the potential for crowd trouble as one of the reasons.The potential to hamper Swindon's own ground development plans was also a common factor, with nearly three quarters of those opposed also citing that as a reason.Fans in favour of the move, said the extra revenue for both the club, and the town itself as the main factors in their decision.Whoever suggested that the Gas may have to play on the Downs during the renovation of Bristol Rugby Club's stadium may have been nearer the truth than they knew! freezer Posted May 15, 2007 Report Share Posted May 15, 2007 After a survey was conducted on the Downs the results with regard to the Gash playing there were as follows:Strongly in favour(0.1%)In favour(0.9%)Undecided(13.5%)Against(47.5%)Strongly against(38%)Next week, humans will be asked what they think, but from these findings, it would appear that the invertebrates that live there want nothing to do with them. Has there ever been a floating stadium, perhaps somewhere in the middle of the English Channel would suit the Pirates well.If that did happen I'm sure that the Subbers could have a whole new, important role to play.
