yeovilmac
My girlfriend is thinking of moving into the area during the summer holidays. She has a son of 14 who is just starting the most important two years of his education. He's currently at a Roman Catholic school that also specialises in Maths and Science and has a 98% pass rate of A* - C in those subjects....I live in Kingswood but would be prepared to move a short distance to a good school. Can anyone recommend one that might suit his needs? He is a bright kid and has been used to a RC school in the past. My children in Bristol are only six so this isn't an issue quite yet. Thanks in advanceMartin
Dollymarie
St Bedes is one of the best Catholic schools in the area, its not in a brilliant area itself (Lawrence Weston) but it does have one of the higher exam success rates, unless she wants to go down the private route. Theres St Mary Redcliffe as well, but I don't really know a lot about it.I went to St Bedes, but that was 11 years ago now since I left. You could try having a look here http://www.bristol.gov.uk/ccm/navigation/e...s-and-colleges/
robins72
Best thing to do is check out the pass rate. I'm sure you can check online as the results are published in the Evening Post annually. St Mary Redcliffe has a really good passrate from what I recalled from last year. Otherwise St Bedes like Dolls said. Good luck with your mission for looking for new schooling. Its really important to get the right place. Theres another catholic school in Westbury-On-Trym but not sure whether its private or not. Think its St Theresas or something like that.theres a link here...http://www.bristol.gov.uk/ccm/content/pres...e-in-bristol.en

RedM
My children are at St Bernadettes, which is a RC school in Whitchurch. This school also specialises in maths and computing. They are doing really well and are very happy there.

Nibor
Bernadette's is probably the only decent school in South Bristol. And that's coming from an ex-Hengrove pupil. The harsh truth is if you want a really good school you either have to pay for it or move to an area outside the city. Even at the better ones in Bristol you'll get a big enough proportion of scumbags whose parents don't care that will do their best to ruin it for the others. Done some work at Henbury School recently - unbelievable. The kids smoke right next to the main building and the teachers walk past making jokes about it!! I am suprised that it has, as it has seen so much money spent since I left (abliet along time ago)Broadlands is now a school people want to send their kids to aswell. Moth Eaten Pillow
Blingy, I think that is true of everything South Glos run compared to BCCToo true, South Glos seem to be very pro-active. Very supportive of Sport and keep facilites pretty much top notch. I'm very lucky to be under South Glos but still close to Bristol centre. Guest Ron
South Glos schools wee wee all over Bristol schools...The fact that Bristol has 5 high-performing Private Schools within walking distance of the centre doesn't help matters much.
