Plymouth Grandstand Terrace Now Shut

EASTEND WURZEL

Recommended Posts

THE GOVERNMENT HAS NOW BROUGHT DOWN ITS IRON FIST ON ALL TERRACES IN THE TOP TWO DIVISIONS OF ENGLISH FOOTBALL, ALL CLUBS WHICH HAVE FAILED TO CONVERT THEIR TERRACES TO SEATED AREAS (AKA EASTEND) HAVE NOW HAD TO SHUT THEM , SO WHY IS IT THAT CARDIFF ARE STILL ALLOWED ?

PLYMOUTH WILL LOSE UP TO 3000 ON HOME PARKS CAPACITY , YET THE WELSH GET AWAY WITH IT AND CAN USE ALL AREAS OF THEIR DUMP.

It may be its the FA thats done this to Plymouth and Cardiif comes under the rule of the WFA , I may be wrong.

The thing is Cardiff gets away with anything they want because they and Swansea runs the WFA, its a very unhealthy situation to be in.

My view is that all welsh teams should play in their own leauge and then they can be has corrupt as they want because it won't affect the English game.

Turn the caps lock off!

Because of the amount of fans Cardiff have, they need the terracing to encompass their average home gate. Plymouth don't.

That seems to have been a major factor in the decision.

surely then they'd have to build a new ground / do up their stadium to keep up with the laws??

cardiff are in the process of building a new ground, so have been granted an extension.

plymouth aren't doing anything about developing a new stand so are being forced to close it, if they had plans to re-build then they would have been allowed to keep it open, however Plymouth knew the rules, but haven't set about building a new stand, or converting it to seating, no doubt this ruling will get them to actually bring the ground upto required stand.

the same thing is happening with Colchester, they have terracing and it is allowed to stay open as they are currently building a new ground.

all seems fair to me,

But asit is done on grounds of safety, what is the difference bwtween the grounds? And how come it can be open in the lower divisions for years, and for the first three years of being in the top two leagues, but as soon as that time is up it becomes unsafe.

Agree,

As the "all seating" rules are for our safety - Obviously it is safer to watch the whole of the rest of English/Welsh football than it is to watch the top two divisions - Premier & Championship

If as the saying goes "rules are rules" then it should effect the whole FA/League affiliated clubs regardless of stature

Not fair some teams can get away with it and others cannot. But i think also not right some teams spent money on making there grounds all seater whilst others have decided stuff that we will spend it on the team and hope to get away with it. Plymouth appeared to have 3 years warning but spent on the team not the ground.

Have Scunny been mentioned at all or does anyone know if they already have plans to convert their terraced section ?

PDG

There are "plans" to update that stand into a modern two tier stand with restaurant etc.

If they don't exactly the same thing will happen. The terraced bit will be closed down unless it affects their earnings.

But does anyone expect them to be in the championship for three years? So it shouldn't be a problem!

Now seeing as the FLA wont give them permission to use the terace next season, it means that last season and every other season it was safe to use but magically now it wouldnt be safe to use.

Now if Plymouth didnt convert there terrace and just closed it that would be ok, if they happened to go down this season to leauge one then they would be able to use it again. Apprently it would be safe.

If plymouth then get promoted after one season in leauge one they would be able to have it for another 3 years at championship level.

So it would be safe then but isnt now.

Its all a complete joke, how can standing at yeovil be safe but standing in a division higher not be.

Also how can it be fair that the FLA can ask Cardiff fans to risk their lives every other week, if it is that unsafe it isnt fair now is it.

So what if there building a new stadium what difference does that make? If terracing is dangerous which in a controlled manner it isnt, then they should do it all properly.

visit www.standupsitdown.co.uk if you want safe standing areas at football.
