New Signings.

I have to say, the silence from this club with regards to new signings is starting to wind me up. GJ stated on this site on Monday, that 3 or 4 signings were imminent.

How imminent ?, this week ?, next week ?, next month ?, or next year.

Am i the only one who feels that not much money is going to be spent, so why the 30% season ticket price increase.

Are we subsidising the wage increase ?, or lining Mr Lansdown and Sexstones pockets.

Perhaps those 2 were named Dunford in a former life.

We have promotion, and we want to stay in the championship, not go straight back down, like last time.

The other clubs in this division are leaving us behind, in terms of players brought in, and maybe we are missing the boat again.

I posted similar sentiments, less the comments about Lansdown, on Saturday, so get ready for a load of abuse!!

Gary told Bristol City World: "We're quite a long way down the road with two or three players. We're negotiating a little bit and just waiting to see how it pans out. It can be a tricky business sometimes.

"I would have liked to have everything done and dusted before Latvia but if that's not the case then it'll be done after Latvia."

the season is still a month away- we will make signings have some patience.

If we did not spend any more money and kept who we have I think we would do ok -GJ wants to bring in the right players to boost the team AND WILL DO IT IN HIS OWN TIME.

Other clubs leaving us behind?

If you mean clubs like Charlton , Sheff utd, Wolves, WBA, Leicester then I would expect them to leave us behind in the transfer market. For a variety of reasons they all appear to have pretty huge financial resources - Charlton and Sheff u have their £30m Prem parachute payements, Wolves and Leicester wealthy new owners splashing the cash and West Brom have just amassed £11m from selling 2 players.

They also have the advantage of being either established championship clubs or recently relegated from the Prem. This means that they have both the financial muscle to compete for good players, but also are an obvious attraction for good players looking to play at the highest level.

What about other Championship clubs?

Barnsley - have signed odejayi for £200k from Cheltenham.

Blackpool - have signed Gary taylor-Fletcher from Hudds

Burnley - Berisha for £340k from Hamburg

Cardiff - Steve mcLean free from wednesday

Colchester have lost cureton and iwolumomumomomu but replaced them with Clive Platt for £300k

Hull - have signed Windyass for £150k

Ipswich - have signed no one

Argyle - Halmos for £400k from Dereceni (who?)

Scunny - Iriekpen from Swans for free Hurst from Wednesday and Youga from Charlton!

Wednesday - have signed 4 on frees

Saints - have only signed Saganowski who was with them last seaon anyway

Stoke - have signed Parkin from Hull for £500k.

Some of them have signed odds and ends as well but in general terms I don't think that is "leaving us behind". Would we be happy of GJ had signed Platt, Odejayi, Windyass, McLean or Taylor-Fletcher?

From being a pretty big fish in a small pond, we are now a small fish in a bigger pond. GJ may well have earmarked players he wants but it is probably a tougher job trying to convince them to come here when bigger and apparently better clubs might also be after them.

I hear thar Kanu WONT be signing a new contrac with Pompey as they have signed 3 strikers this season and Kanu is unhappy..With Joe Jordan's links to City and Johnson trying to sign a proven goal scorer...

You mentioned Kanu and proven goals scorer in the same sentance.

100 lines for you.

Overall I agree apart from the bit about Lansdown and Sexstone.I don't if it makes you laugh or cry that we kept being told signings are on the way and how difficult it is but no other team with some money to spend seem to have the same problems. The first dose of spin was we won't see much happening until the end of June then it was until preseason and now it is after the trip to Latvia.Either we are offering peanuts or we are after World superstars either way it makes you wonder what the next load of twaddle will be why we have signed only one player.

Pointless, impatient, uninformed, inaccuate drivel is starting to wind me up. When are the mods going to put all these posts into one thread?

It's getting boring.

Pointless.....maybe, new posts on this subject seem to turn up just as often as a new Paris Hilton porn video!!

Impatient....not at all, were told players were coming in at xmas and then even towards the end of the season, we were told players had been identified and would bve bought in

Drivel....I think he makes a good point, although so has about 2,000 other posts on here

The simple fact of the matter is we were promised value for money when the season tickets went up. At this moment in time, we certainly havent got it! Yes yes, were in the championship, excellent, but with about an 18 man squad and no new blood, how long for?

Again, yes players are due to join us! But these players need time to bed in, not only with the team but the area to.

It would have been nice to have a settled, gelled squad ready for the start of the season....
