Dollymarie
Ok so I had a maybe not so legal version of Norton, but now it says its expired.Obviously I cant go upgrade it from them because it might not be legal, can anyone direct me to another version I can "borrow" from the net.I have an easynews account, so I can download stuff, and I also have bit comet. The one I have now says there is a problem with the keygen. As I was given the version before I'm not sure how big a file I should be looking for etc etc.Ive never had a problem with norton which is why I would just like another version.HELP! Glastonbury Red
I gave up with Norton a long time ago, kept hammering my memory to the point where my PC almost became unusable.Might I recommend Microsoft One Live Care? Beta home pageIt's given me a 250 day free trial and covers more ground than Norton ever could.
Eddie Hitler
AVG is great and free. There are upgrades and a spyware trial but the basic version is free.It downloads a new upgrade every day and you can schedule a daily or weekly virus scan.AVGThe other one I've tried is Panda but I didn't get on with it. That could just be me though.Important - make sure you uninstall Norton. If you start having multiple virus checker programmes searching for downloads and doing scans your computer will slow to a crawl.

Mozilla are reputable so try that.

Mozilla firefox replacing IE is good too, helps with pops ups.
Dollymarie
Thanks everyone, I had acquired a trojan and something else nasty somehow, and when I ran the AVG spyware stuff it found them and removed them. Touch wood I think its ok now, have run the spybot search and destroy I already had and will run my adaware later. Question for the AVG users....it just runs automatically does it, I don't have to tell it to scan, I'm just used to the norton window popping up and telling me its all ok when I boot up the puter. It says everything is all up to date, so thats all I need is it?Thanks again, fingers crossed it will behave now.

You still have to do a normal virus check though I usually do mine once every few weeks to check on viruses.
