Fast return for Sheff Utd with Sheff W runners-up

The Soccervoice Panel believe that the Championship will be closer than ever. 12 to 14 teams could be involved in the straight promotion race, with a smaller gap to the bottom than ever before. The first 10 games of the season will tell us the answer.

A good start will be the vital thing for those clubs wanting to win promotion. It also shows that every season you will get a surprise winner and a team that runs away and wins with great margin.

Reading and Sunderland has done just that in the last two seasons. Watford and Derby both went up without being tipped as a major contender for a promotion. Both clubs managed that via play-off's. The key to a play-off win lays in the fact that you have few injuries when entering the competition and that your team has been in good form in the weeks before battle to reach the final and win it.

Leicester City with new owner Milan Mandaric and new manager Martin Allen, could hit jackpot with some very promising signings and at the same time trying to bring in more experienced players before the transfer window shuts down.

Wolves is also a team to consider. Mick McCarthy has shown that he knows how to work in the Championship and build those stones, one by one, without rocking the boat too much to unsettle the balance in the squad.

Charlton is another contender, but they need a good start with many new faces. The loss of Karkouri, Kishishev, Rommedahl, Bent and Young will of course make it difficult to fulfill the ambtions of a straight return.

Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday stands out as the favourites for the Championship straight promotion places. Bryan Robson at Sheffield United has an impressive squad and Brian Laws showed last season that he can work wonders with a squad that believe 100 % in their manager.

The spirit at Hillsborough can bring The Owls back to the top. Brian Laws is a very promising manager and it would be fantastic to see a team like Wednesday going all the way, since they haven't splashed out all the cash in the world to build a very interesting team.

Here is our Championship prediction:

1. Sheff Utd,

6. Charlton

7. Leicester,

8. Stoke,

Someone must have been drunk when they did these predictions, Sheffield Wednesday to finish 2nd, more chance of Man Utd getting relegated from The Prem.

As for us finishing bottom, I don't think so!!

What a load of cack.

Sheff Wed 2nd?? They obviously havent bothered looking into the chaos at Hillsborough this summer. No new signings and massive board unrest.

Burnley 22nd? No chance. Burnley have money behind them and a good side shaping up there.

And us bottom? We'll see.....

Very strange predictions.

Leicester are fancied for making about 11 mediocre signings but Charlton are not because they've brought in too many players (10!) despite the players they've brought in being much better and them having an extremely competent manager instead of a raving lunatic.

Sheff Utd are managed by Bryan Robson - enough said. Sheff Wednesday have no goals in them.

Wolves and Charlton for the top two spots is more likely IMO.

As for the other end, I do find it hard to understand how they can put us below Blackpool and S****horpe - Blackpool who we were better than last season and S****horpe who've lost their two best players, when we've strengthened.

Who gives a flying f00k about predictions anyway? Not me. The only thing we can be certain of is that NOBODY will predict the entire league correctly therefore these predictions aren't worth the paper they are written on. The only thing that matters now is the real thing starting 3pm tomorrow. Give it a few weeks and nobody will remember the first thing about predictions made by foreign websites based upon total ignorance.

Any site that uses the word 'soccer' in its title (with the exception of soccerbase) is usually cack.. as this is its written by someone in Norway :/

True... I could never get over the fact that arguably the best football program of all time was called "Soccer AM?" :disapointed2se:

Hmmm and meeeh, thats a good point, agree with Tom aswell, soccer is the bastardized word for the beautiful game, how can we take seriously any comments from people who can't even call it what it is?!

Weird about soccer AM, never considered that before, maybe the rights on Football AM were not available, or one of Murdock's cretins came up with it.

It's footy ffs! :ranting:

I agree, its almost like the predictions of someone who has put the names in a hat and drawn them out at random.Sheffield Weds have signed Jeffers to solve their striking problems, with his recent record, Andy Smith and Bas must have turned them down!! :innocent06::innocent06:
