Yesterday's Gate The Best Since 1969 At This Level

As a riposte to the negativity shown on this forum by certain individuals, playing in the 2nd tier of English Football, yesterday's gate was the best since 1969/70 when 19,346 were in attendance on 13th August to see City beat watford 1 -0.

In fact since Johnny Atyeo's team was promoted to League 2 in 1965, yesterday's gate has only been beaten on one other occasion, the previous year in 1968/69 when 19,280 watched City draw 1-1 with Sheff Utd.

This includes of course the glory years of the early 1970s (source www.citystats.org.uk) when first day attendances were surprisingly poor.

Quite right, exept...The Sheff Utd game wasn't the FMOTS, that was the previous week when we'd lost AWAY at Fulham 1-0
