Bemmyboy
As a riposte to the negativity shown on this forum by certain individuals, playing in the 2nd tier of English Football, yesterday's gate was the best since 1969/70 when 19,346 were in attendance on 13th August to see City beat watford 1 -0.In fact since Johnny Atyeo's team was promoted to League 2 in 1965, yesterday's gate has only been beaten on one other occasion, the previous year in 1968/69 when 19,280 watched City draw 1-1 with Sheff Utd.This includes of course the glory years of the early 1970s (source www.citystats.org.uk) when first day attendances were surprisingly poor.So well done SL and CS.
