StapleHillPhil
I've only really pished about on this when i've been bored at work but now we have our league set up (cheers Orj) i've taken a keener interest. I'm an accountant by profession and think I know how the markets work but how the hell can Sven get a full page on The Sun & his share price remain stable? Its as ridiculous as a Wilson substitution. I've aslo seen that Tom has reached top spot. Is he getting tip offs from his friend Red Top? Hmm, it must be more then a coincidence.

I'm not really 100% sure how it works, either, but I do think it takes a bit of time to catch up with what's going on. I'm sure lots of people bought Sven this morning, and he is going up slowly, but it often takes a few hours for changes to really appear. And... don't forget that in terms of calculating dividends, coverage in the Sun is worth less than coverage in the broadsheets. Though in Sven's case he was all over both. Though, obviously, I've not really really studied it. I don't let it rule my life or anything, I don't obsess about it, draw up spreadsheets and spend days in utter gloom because I've only ever made it to No2 and Edson is constantly beating me. Not me. Noooo.
Guest Jules
To be honest I don't know either.. I can't be the only one who's pumping Sven at the moment Indeed, I imagine old Sven is quite exhausted. Never mind, I've no doubt he'll soon come from behind. Private Cider(cider army)
how the hell can Sven get a full page on The Sun & his share price remain stable? Just as a quick note, Svens share price is dictated on how many traders are buying his shares. The newspaper coverage effects the dividend payout at the end of the week, I.E the more paper coverage the more divedends. Also as mentioned above - the system normally takes a couple of hours to update. Sven's shares have gone up 17p since Saturday but expect that to seriously go up now all the monday to Friday players are back at there desks. Agreed, but it also does seem odd that the share price didn't rise more quickly due to demand over the weekend. Presumably, people buy shares based partly on what they believe the dividend will be. So press coverage will affect share price in as much as it encourages people to buy, doesn't it?
StapleHillPhil
Share price is rising like a 16 year old on viagra now The dividend is going to be a monster looking at what potential is already Have you tried working out what your potential dividend pay out will be? If its a monster & you go over the £1m value they'll kneecap you & stick you down on £10k again. I'm really struggling to understand how these prices work. Alex Best is currently 5th in the 'movers & losers' table but has no potential dividend. Why is she rapidly rising in value? Its not even as if she's guaranteed to be in the papers ala Minogue or Spears.

Admin Ian M Posted March 31, 2004 Admin Report Share Posted March 31, 2004 After 2 weeks of being up or around the top of the table I foresee myself rapidly falling now.....unfortunately that sounds all too familiar
