Some VERY good news. Wycombe Wanderers FC has agreed to host a Fans

United Safe Standing Day at its home match on Sunday 9 September 2007

kick-off 1.30pm. This game is live on Sky.

WE NEED HUNDREDS OF FANS FROM OTHER CLUBS DESCENDING ON WYCOMBE THAT DAY

DRESSED IN CLUB COLOURS!

This is IMPORTANT. Drop everything, get on to all your football mates,

club websites/message-boards and spread the word NOW!

Let us know about your attendance and how many you'll be bringing. Let's

turn Wycombe into a football United Nations for the day, make it a great

day out for everybody. Both SUSD and the FSF (football supporter's Federation) are fully behind this. The

club have invited all the other 91 clubs and all the 145 MPs who have

signed the pro safe-standing House of Commons Early Day Motion.

GO FOR IT PEOPLE, HIT THE PHONES/EMAIL NOW!

Regards

The Stand Up Sit Down Team

This is the email sent out to all of SUSD's 6,500 members. I understand not everyone who reads this will be that interested in attending but those who are I'd like to urge you to go. It is very Important to have their terrace full with fans from all over the country to send out a HUGE message to the authorities who don't understand how much this means to people! There will be a lot of media coverage so we need to make the most of this opportunity.

Admins I would be grateful if you pinned the topic :fingerscrossed:

For more on this campaign for the introduction of safe standing areas (note, NOT a return to old-style terracing) the following article on the Trust site might interest you:

Stand up and be heard!

This includes some photos of the sort of safe standing areas widely used in Germany and Austria.

Note: The introduction of such areas in England does NOT require a change in the law. It simply requires the Secretary of State to have a change of heart and to advise the Football Licensing Authority accordingly. Taking seats out of stadia in the top two divisions DOES require a change in the law, but using a different style of 'seating' and permitting standing in the areas equipped in this way does not. The law says the grounds must be all-seater, it's the FLA, the relevant leagues and local councils that set the stadium guidelines that dictate that everyone must sit. The FLA has it within its power to advise the leagues and the councils otherwise.

Change can therefore be brought about by persuasion and a change of political mood.
