David Noble - Our Talisman?

No doubt this was our most accomplished performance this season and David Noble's presence seemed to set a higher standard for the team.

Credit to all of them for truly operating like a top end Championship team. We passed it along the ground and were dangerous throughout as well as giving our usual battling team performance.

Sproule has to play at right midfield, he really rediscovered the form that led to his signing.

Fantastic job City. Brilliant that Johnson can make decisive changes that work.

We were all proud

UP THE GLORIOUS CITY

Noble's presence on the pitch seemed to inspire City to actually play the ball on the floor and by god did it work. Fantastic all round to see him playing.

Agree with that, Noble adds that bit of class and composure to the starting line up, along with Elliot I think he is a vital cog in the machine.

Noble definitely helped the passing game, but give credit to the other players who could still have taken the easy option and tried hitting it long to Byfield all game. They all gave a fantastic account of themselves and showed what good footballers they can be.

Jesus ! He can't win can he ! He has a great performance and who gets the credit ? David Noble !

Let me explain it to you then. When Elliott and Johnson have been playing as a central "two" recently, Elliott has had his work cut out trying to clean up the midfield area to get us possession and Johnson has also been struggling a bit against better quality players and resorting to "Hollywood" passes that have meant we have given away possession cheaply and spent the next five minutes WASTING VITAL ENERGY trying to get the ball back. Anyone who went to Preston and Barnsley will probably be able to explain in better detail than I can!! Noble comes into the team and all of a sudden the game is easier for both Elliott (who was outstanding) and Johnson (who had his best game of the season) because we have three players competing in the central area. Johnson, all of a sudden, is playing simple balls into the feet of NOBLE instead of Hollywood passes to the other team. Noble is using the space he is finding to turn and run at the opposition. We then look twice the team we have done in previous matches. That is how the presence of Noble equates to Lee Johnson having a good game. Nothing to do with Jesus (although Basso may beg to differ) and not being able to win.
