Reserves beat Bristol City at Hogwood

Posted on: Tue 30 Oct 2007

Reading 3

Bristol City 2

Reading came from behind to secure a 3-2 victory over Bristol City at Hogwood Park on Tuesday afternoon.

The Royals went ahead after 15 minutes when Bobby Convey did well down the left and sent the ball over for Nicholas Bignall who finished past the Robins keeper with a left footed effort.

Bristol levelled on 25 minutes and edged in front before half time.

But Reading levelled on the hour mark when James Henry whipped in a corner and found Alex Pearce at the near post, who headed home from close range.

Both sides had efforts ruled out for offside whilst the game hung in the balance at 2-2, although Pearce's finish from Henry's pass looked very marginal to being onside.

And the Royals defender was not to be denied when he bagged the winner, once again proving strong in the air to head Leroy Rosenior's cross from the right home from the back post.

Team: Hamer, Rosenior, Golbourne, Pearce, Brown (Mate), Bygrave, Halls, Henry (Sigurdsson), Convey Long, Bignall (Bossman).

Subs: Kelly, McCarthy.

Sorry, nothing on the BCFC site, so how can I believe our reserves played anyone. Sure an article about the 16-18 year olds in a mickey mouse cup match, so far not a word about the senior pros in a reserve grade match.

Like another post about the lack of information about squad players like Artus, James Wilson, Betsy and Keogh, there's not a word about a reserve game against Reading. It needs to be addressed, as I for one have an interest in the whole squad, not just the starting eleven.
