How Much Is Our Squad Worth?

Our squad has cost us near enough £1.75m to assemble I think with the large chunk of that going on Mr Trundle. Otherwise the rest of our team has pretty much been patched together and is now running like a well oiled machine.

But, is our squad worth much in bits? This is the way I value our team, and when I mean value its what I expect another side to bid to secure the services:

Adriano Basso = £500k

Chris Weale = £100k

Bradley Orr = £300k

Louis Carey = £100k

Liam Fontaine = £400k

Jamie MCombe = £200k

Jamie McCallister = £400k

Brian Wilson = £150k

Richard Keogh = £100k

Michael Mcindoe = £500k

Ivan Sproule = £300k

Marv Elliot = £2.5m

Lee Johnson = £400k

Scott Murray = £nominal

David Noble = £500k

Cole Skuse = £400k

Lee Trundle = £500k

Darren Byfield = £150k

Enoch Showunmi = £100k

Steve Brooker = £200k

Phil Jevons = £50k

Now obviously everyone is going to have their own opinon. So have I grossly over valued our squad? Are there any fees there that you would gladly bite a clubs hand off for? I think I value our side totally at about £5m - does this sound unrealistic?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts and also what you value the team at.

Cheers,

Rich.

It depends on a lot of things, like when a players contract runs out. We're in a league where players have been going to £9m, so I think Elliot is easily worth the £2.5m you suggest. If we wanted to sell Trundle I expect we'd be able to recuperate almost £1m. The likes of Noble, Skuse, Sproule, McIndoe, Fontaine may also be worth something near £1m too.

You are right, it depends on the buying and selling clubs agreeing but i didnt want to make it too complicated. i think you get the picture - we probably wouldnt sell the likes of Carey etc but they must have a value - surely thats what they are insured against?? Just trying to have a light hearted discussion rather than a full blown finanical breakdown!!!

I think in todays market at the relative ages I would expect the following :-

Adriano Basso = £800k

Chris Weale = £100k

Bradley Orr = £500k

Louis Carey = £500k

Liam Fontaine = £750k

Jamie MCombe = £500k

Jamie McCallister = £500k

Brian Wilson = £250k

Richard Keogh = Nominal due to contract

Michael Mcindoe = £750k

Ivan Sproule = £750k

Marv Elliot = £2m

Lee Johnson = £500k

Scott Murray = £100k

David Noble = £750k

Cole Skuse = £750k

Lee Trundle = £1m

Darren Byfield = £250k

Enoch Showunmi = £100k

Steve Brooker = £500k (needs to get fit aint worth a penny at present)

Phil Jevons = £100k

I think Jevons, Keogh and Betsy will all go in the Jan / Summer, as will Russell

Be intresting to see what comes of Plummer, Riberio, Wilson etc

Our squad is worth £3.178m and half a Mars bar.

More seriously I think only players still well before their peak and coping well with Championship football or those who are already proven at this level and not yet considered a "veteran" would attract cash offers. That means Fontaine, Elliott, and McIndoe really.

Possibly promising youngsters like Skuse, Ribeiro, Plummer, Wilson and Artus might attract some interest but they would need to play some games first.

This is what I think clubs would be prepared to pay for our players, given their abilities, fitness and contract situations:-

Adriano Basso = £400k

Chris Weale = NIL (due to appalling recent injury record)

Bradley Orr = £250k

Louis Carey = NIL (due to age)

Liam Fontaine = £400k

Jamie MCombe = £200k

Jamie McCallister = £200k

Brian Wilson = £150k

Richard Keogh = £50k (if we're lucky)

Michael Mcindoe = £400k

Ivan Sproule = £400k

Marv Elliot = £750k (he's not played enough good games YET to warrant a seven figure fee)

Lee Johnson = £250k

Scott Murray = £NIL (age)

David Noble = £300k

Cole Skuse = £250k

Lee Trundle = £400k

Darren Byfield = £150k

Enoch Showunmi = £150k

Steve Brooker = £100k (due to recent injury record)

Phil Jevons = £50-100k

I am sure that with increased fitness, some of the players will be looking at higher values as the season progresses. But the fees really reinforce the view that we are a team where the sum of the whole is a lot greater than the individual parts.

Noble preety much got us over the line last year in todays market he is worth 750 k at least, he is only young remember

Now don get me wrong i like Noble but he cant stay fit for any decent amount of time. He has done ok but i think Lee Trundle would be much more effective in his posistion and am very surprised he has not been played there yet.
