The most recent encounter was a 3-0 win in Coimbra during the group stage of Euro 2004, when Wayne Rooney (twice) and Steven Gerrard were on target. The last match on home soil was a 1-1 draw in the opening match of Euro 96, when a Kubilay Turkylmaz penalty cancelled out Alan Shearer's opener.
