Mine would be

Basso

Carey Newman Taylor Scott

Junior D.Howells Elliott Walsh

Jackie Taylor

Subs

Cole

Welch

Brennan

Tinnion

Goater

That was hard typing the name Talyor because it still irks me to this day that Jimmy ##$#%$# Lumsden gave him to WBA for peanuts, who said managers know best, F$##$$# grrrrrrr F#$#%$% Lumsden you F#$@$ grrrrrrrrr F$$##$ F$%$%$.

Ahh....... all better now.

K, a vaguely serious point.

How can anyone seriously justify putting Tommy D in above Marvin Elliot astounds me,.

Because he had been at the club over a longer period of time than Elliot and gave consistent performances for a number of years. If Elliot has a similar impact with us for a similar amount of time then i`d probably include him in my all-time 11. Elliot only came to us last summer.

A good question.

My team (when playing at their peak) would be:

Adriano Basso

Gerry Sweeney

Sean Taylor

Geoff Merrick

Brian Drysdale

Clive Whitehead

Gerry Gow

Brian Tinnion

Alan Walsh

John Atyeo

Paul Cheesley

Subs:

Mike Gibson

Norman Hunter

Tommy Doherty

Tom Ritchie

Bob Taylor

Difficult choices though!

Agree with that, but also think hat fans of a certain age, like me, would add that how anyone can seriously justify putting either of these players in above Gerry Gow is also astounding, but if you never saw GG play then you wouldn't know, to be fair.

For Marvin to be compared to Gow he has to maintain his current performance over a number of seasons, but also needs to be able to do so in the prem and against the best midfielders in the business. I always thought it would be "interesting" to see how Gow would have fared against Roy Kean!

Thoughts when doing this were:

*what a lot of awesome left backs we've had

*what a lot of average right backs we've had

*what a lot of quality on the flanks we've had

*what a lot of average players in the centre we've had

*what a lot of good strikers we've had

This very much depends on your age and who you have seen.

I have watched since 1960 and would say you can't leave out:

Ateyo - clearly our best ever player

Gibson as goalkeeper

Connors as a centreback

Gow as a midfielder

Crowe as our best striker for the one season he was fit

Galley as our best goal scorer

Merrick as our best all rounder

AND Chris Garland - on his day brilliant !!

Just my opinion - I may have missed someone - I remember a right winger who scored at Notts County in the cup - name escapes me, someone please help, quick and wonderful control - going back about 25 years I guess......?

Agreed with those comments, I've been watching since Mid sixties & the best R. back I've

seen in a city shirt ( but only for a few games)

was Clayton Blackmore - Pure class.

oh yeah - good point. he was a class above, wasnt he?

That norweigen was good for about 5 minutes before he went off the boil -and I guess Adam Locke had his moments, but am struggling to find another name who would suit top half of the championship standard... Bradley is*just about* good enough, IMO.

Good question, and I struggled with a creative CM and ended up putting Tinnion in and a right wing. Murray good, but at third grade. Also surprised so few put Cole. Me from 76

GK Basso

RB Drysdale

CB Taylor

CB Merrick

LB Sweeney

LW Whitehead

CM Gow

CM Tinnion

RW Tainton

CF Cheesley

CF Cole

Subs: Cashley, Goater, Shelton, Rogers, Elliot

We have spent too many years in Division 3 post 70's to have seen too many outstanding talents. It is changing rapidly though, and i suspect in the 5 years, we will see a big increase in the modern players into such selections.

I struggled with Andy Cole or Shaun Goater upfront to partner Ateyo. But i choose Goater simply because he scored goals at the club for a longer period of time.
