reddevon
Looking back to late August, a number of posters were concerned about our apparent tough start to the season with the likes of Sheffield Weds, Coventry away West Brom home etc.. whilst others thought we must "make hay whilst the sun shines" with the likes of known quantities of QPR, Blackpool and S****horpe in our opening six games. As it turned out we did rather well and got our now consistent 17 points in the first block of 10 to sit in top four.A good start that gave us confidence and momentum.Whilst we didn't know at the time we had only played 2 of the current top 10 at that stage and gained only 2 points. If the Fixture list had been really unkind to us and we had played the current top 10 (11 including us) and gained 11 points (our haul from first matches against those teams) and sat in 19th place then - would we have recovered?Given the big "IF" , (I prefer when we reach the Prem) do we "acquire" one of the relegated team fixtures or are they sorted some other way?The "Press" appear to have written us off already but whilst this seasons Championship has been quite "open" in terms of results, avoiding a couple of games against the likes of Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool etc.. and perhaps getting some points on the board in the first six games, would I feel give us a much better chance of survival and perhaps some confidence.Does it really matter who you play first?
