Emailed to me this morning from an ardent Charlton fan who attended last night's match

Did you go last night? I thought City deserved to win to be honest. Would much rather see you go up than Stoke/Watford, as City get the ball on the ground and play football.

All the best

And after my response:

We played football in the first half but looked out of sorts in the

second. A common theme with Pardew, a man who is tactically inept! So in

the second we started to lump the ball forward and left the football to

City. This doesn't suit us, though, as we tend to get better results at

home when we try to keep the ball on the ground, as that suits our

wingers and forwards.

The goal was clearly coming, although we did have one or two chances in

the second as well as one just before half-time where we should have

made it 2-0. It's the teams who take the chances when they come who'll

go up, not the nearly men, which I fear we'll be.

If we stay down we'll be bottom half next season, as the league will be

even stronger.

Yes, you do look virtually assured of the play-offs. Hopefully you'll

beat Leicester & Watford. I'd like the former to go down and the latter

to stay down. We'll need to improve to get into the play-offs, as we

can't play like that in the matches against our rivals. We still have

Ipswich & Plymouth away, as well as QPR who'll want to beat us and West

Brom & Wolves at home. I think drawing last night ended any lingering

automatic promotion hopes from our point of view.

Good luck to you!
