The Next Six Games

Realistically, promotion can be effectively won in the next six games, all within a month.

We have four home games in that time. Watford meet Stoke in that time, and WBA also meet Watford so points will be restricted for our rivals.

Tuesday, 11 March 2008 - Bristol City v Watford, 19:45

Saturday, 15 March 2008 - Bristol City v Plymouth, 15:00

Saturday, 22 March 2008 - Cardiff v Bristol City, 15:00

Saturday, 29 March 2008 - Bristol City v Norwich, 15:00

Saturday, 05 April 2008 - Southampton v Bristol City, 15:00

Saturday, 12 April 2008 - Bristol City v Wolverhampton, 15:00

Twelve points would see us with 78 and three games to go. That would be title winning form...

How many points do you think we'll get?

16.

18 would get us top spot

If any of you crazy dreamers are correct, we will not only go up but will probably win the league.

Sadly, with our momentum in the balance leading up to the Watford visit on Tuesday, we will more likely get half of those totals.

I'm a bit more pessimistic after today. The team seems jaded and however relieved we might feel to have got a point a table topping team with hopes of automatic promotion shouldn't be going to places like Leicester and be under the cosh like we were today.

Watford: Day off today is to their advantage, we'll do well to get a point. 1 point

Plymouth: We'll bounce back from Tuesday's "disappointment" with a 2-0 win. 3 points

Cardiff: Scrap out a 0-0 draw in a bad tempered derby. One from each team sees red. 1 point

Norwich: Last minute McCombe winner to give City 2-1 win.3 points

Southampton: City pegged back for a draw in last 5 minutes. 1 point

Wolves: Incident packed as always against bogey team Wolves. Can't stand 'em. Lose 3-2 0 points

Giving us 9 points and probably needing to win the last 3. :disapointed2se:

If City can somehow rouse themselves to see off Watford on Tuesday it could be very different indeed and I may well revise my predictions with renewed optimism. :city:

Watford: One dimensional but likely to put us under a lot of pressure

Plymouth: Tough, but winnable

Cardiff: Highly unpredictable side, let's hope they win tomorrow to distract them

Norwich: Off the boil after a strong run, winnable

Southampton: Rapidly improving side

Wolves: Bogey team, and making a strong bid for the Play Offs

In other words, anything between 0 and 18! However you look at it, Tuesday nights game is massive. Much will depend on whether any of our rivals can string a good run of results together. I think that West Brom will take one of the automatic spots, and the other is wide open. Stoke look to have the best run-in, Watford will be looking to beat us and Stoke, as they have some tricky games ahead. Don't rule out Hull, they are in form, and have a relatively straightforward run-in. In deference to the idiotic Mark Lawrenson, Charlton and Sheff Utd will make late runs as the Championship is poor, and ex-Premiership sides should walk it!
