Swindon Police

Just like to say that the attitude of the police yesterday was disgraceful. Marching the train lot from the station, they deliberately made us miss the first 5 mins of the game, and when someone pointed out this to them, one replied with @Thats OK, We still get paid the same however much you miss. He was trying to get a response. Also the pushing and shoving of grown men, just to get them to where they want them on the road was intimidating. There was no trouble at all, yet we were made to feel like hooligans, just because we happened to prefer the train. Arrogant p*gs the lot of em.

Following on from this, I read somewhere that if I had wanted to walk off on my own, away from the escort, there was nothing legally they could do to stop me, provided I explained politely what I was doing, and that it was my right as a free citizen to go anywhere I like. Anyone with any legal knowledge like to clarify? Can you be arrested for failing to stay with the escort?

we arrived at swindon train station at 12.50 and the police were ok with us, they did escort us to the bulldog pub but they were fine, laughing and joking with us,one even said what a sh!t hole swindon was!

Sounds about right but it's not just a Swindon police problem, all forces are the same, if you're a regular train traveller to games then I'm sure you know this, especially in derby matches. You're lucky you only missed 5 minutes! Got into Ashton gate 20 minutes late one time thanks to the very same problem you experienced!

The olb bill were clueless, very disorganised, but we didn't seem to have many "faces" there which is probably why they were so relaxed.

You can't walk from a police escort they can move a crowd of people on by law.

The worst is being section 60d, that annoys me

They were totally out of order.

The first sight to greet us was a line of "Robocops" tapping their sticks. I said to one of them"Don't you think that's unnecessary and a bit provocative?"

Silly question really because "Thinking" is outside of their mental capabilities.

We were then escorted with Plod in front, horses to the side and snarling dogs to the rear. All the time we were being photographed and video'd.

I took lots of pics on my digicam and they prove that we were not thugs, christ there were kids in with us.

I explained to one of Blair's Boot Boys that whilst they were giving us civilians their undivided attention the hard core (you know who I mean) gave them the slip.

They were chuffed to the B*ll*cks that we missed the start of the game.

Thank god the steward who searched me had a sense of humour

"Please lift your cap"

"You'll only find a mass of grey hair under it"

"Well that's more than I've got"

What is a section 60 ? (sorry 4 being fick)
A section 60 is an order that the Old Bill declare when there is a potential for disorder. They are allowed to search you for weapons, but can't look in your wallet.

They will try to get your name and address but you are not obliged to provide it although they will trump something up if they really want it.

in other words they do what the hell they want with you because we happen to follow the beautiful game.

They would arrest you for" Preventing a breach of the peace".

Pretty thin, but that`s what happens.

To run a section 60, the police must believe there is a likelihood of violence and that members in a certain designated area are believed, or there is a possibilty of carrying weapons. This extends to section 60AA where they can also remove any items of clothing used for disguise or to hide anyones identity. This also provides a power of arrets for those who fail to comply.

All part of the Police and Criminal evidence act .

As with any search, there is no neccessity to give your details in law, but they are obliged to ask.

I`m bored now.

From the perspective of an English Republican the British Police are Monarchist Gestapo :sub:

The Police dress in black and have chrome plate Monarchist cap and lapel badges and black shiney jack boots. At Monarchist Gestapo HQ (i.e. any Police station) a picture of their German descended British government Queen is hung on the wall. If charged you will face the might of the 'Crown' Prosecution Service - another Monarchist organisation run by a closed shop of ex public school boys. If convicted you could expect a stay in one of Her Majesty's prisons at her Majesty's leisure etc. :sub::sub::o:cool::sub:

Better not take my balaclava then !

:sub::sub::sub: :PC_Plod: :sub:

......if you wear that black balaclava you could immediately be under suspicion of being a member of the English Republican Army (ERA) :sub: The Monarchist Police may then arrest you in connection with the execution of their tyrant King Charles I over 350 years ago :sub::sub:

WillsbridgeRed, I reckon you've got a fine career ahead of you in the Monarchist Police force doing all the dirty work for 'Her Majesty's Government' :sub: You'll get to operate Tory Blair's speed tax cameras and get plenty of opportunity to film BCFC supporters with big brother cameras.:sub::sub:

Wiltshire police!!! :@

Say no more!!

Twice i have been pulled over for speeding when i wasn't. and twice i have been to Marlborough Magistaits and my conviction quashed!! :sub:

When they built the M4 they should of avoided Swindon altogether!! :sub:

The Police only have to escourt you if they either think that you are capable of partaking or exicuting a disturbence, or if they have reason to believe that some harm will come to you from others!!

Apart from that, you are free to come and go as you please!! :sub:

And knowing our luck, we'll be playing them again next year!! :sub:

The old monarchist dibbles stuff is b*******, cos a republican police would do the same. Football fans are hooligans, it says on yer label!!

For anyone interested, Swinedead dibbles dont just p*** footy fans off.

I was at a funeral, for a biker years back, in Swinedead, and dibbles threatened to charge anyone going helmetless, escorted us to the funeral, but took off like rockets, on the way back causing us all to get split up.

Swinedead dibbles are prats of the first order, but if you see some of the muppets there on a game, or a Saturday nite, it explains a bit, specially when a "Hard Firm" @ the Sun come to town like Cider-Reds.....dodgy, very dodgy!

If any of you are good at formal complaints put one in.........they were forecasting trouble on Thursday Evening on Central South Teletext

The police are the same all over the country just as fans are all the same.

just remember why police are at matches in the first place - beacuse there are lots of idiots out there who don't go to watch the beautiful game, they go to to swear, intimidate and fight with opposition 'supporters'.

If those ar######les got their act together, or better still, stayed away, the police presence & all the hassle that goes with it wouldn't be necessary.

Who of you out there has been intimidated & disgusted by the behaviour of a minority of City fans?
