Cider red Posted April 11, 2004 Report Share Posted April 11, 2004 We would need a goalscorer , a decent defender , a second goalkeeper to put a bit of pressure on stevie , and a quality midfield player to use as backup or start. Our squad could probably just about survive now as it is but to be sure we would need players in those positions. I think stevie is thinking if i play bad there's no won to take my place. screech Posted April 12, 2004 Report Share Posted April 12, 2004 GK....PHILLIPS RB....CAREY CH....COLES CH....new player LB.....HILL RM....MURRAY MC....DOHERTY MC....new player LM.....BROWN CF.....MILLER ST.....new player SUBS FROM WOODMAN ROBERTS BUTLER WILKSHIRE AMANKWAAH PEACOCK GOODFELLOW I think we are 3 first team players away from a relegation saving team in div1, it's a very strong league with a lot of ex premier players in, getting 3 players in with heaps of 1st division first team experience in to form a solid base for a long hard season ahead is a must, the present City side are very inexperienced at this level and would find it hard to break free of the relegation spots, Cardiff, Crewe and Wigan had/have players who have played at this level before and have a major advantage over us with something we don't have, a prolific goalscorer. Less teams in the higher leagues bang it like swindon do to their front players and PLAY football. So, being one of Wilsons favourites formations I would guess that we may go for this set up. I dont think that with a 4-4-2 we can match them teams player for player but with 3-5-2 we have the wingers and holding players in the midfield to maybe tactically beat the teams. But as it stands I Would keep: GK Phillips LB CD Coles CD Hill RB Carey (maybe) LW Goodfellow CM Docs CM Wilkshire RM Murray ST Roberts ST sub Lita sub Carey sub Tinnion sub Goodfellow sub Burnell sub Miller sub Peacock The younger players such as Amankwaah and Woodman, like any other youngsters should be kept and used to their potential of course. QPR he commanded his area fantastically and every cross he came for he won or punched. Swindon he again was the rock of consistantcy apart from a freak of brilliance. Phillips will stay in my starting line up and you would be mad to suggest we need a new number one. I on the other hand agree we need some one to make the position competative but to suggest we need a new number one is ...well stupid! If we can play our younger players and survive then we should be sitting pretty for 2005-06. We probably need to bring in a nice experienced CB and probably a striker.
