Breaking News has this afternoon received confirmation that the project management company Cowlin Construction who are now part of the Balfour Beatty Group have pulled out of the stadium regeneration scheme for the Memorial Stadium.

It is believed that the project will now go out to tender so that a new project management company can be appointed.

face it gas, it aint going to happen :yahoo:

I was at the Bristol v Harlequins game today at the Memorial Ground and there were about 9,500 rugby supporters in attendance. Yesterday the Gas had about 3,000 less for their game against Huddersfield. :winner_third_h4h: How the hell would the Gas fill a proposed stadium of 20,000 with average attendances of 6,000 and with the crap football they serve up ???!!!!!

The only thing wrong with the Memorial Rugby Stadium is the fact that the Gas have been allowed to play there. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that ground when used as a rugby ground for which it was always intended. You can stand on the terrace to watch the game and use the terrace square shaped grab rails to rest your 2 pint container of Bass beer - quality - except for Bristol losing to the Cockerneeey Harlequins yesterday.

The whole thing seems designed to bankrupt their club so I shall leave them to their madness.

They shouldn't have much trouble getting another contractor, during the last housing slump housebuilders were going into these sort of projects at a loss just to keep their businesses ticking over.

6000 and that was with cheaper tickets . :disapointed2se:

Never mind looks like Bob the Builder will have another job to do at the Bristol Rugby Club Stadium.

Won't have to look far for a spud .

What's that you say Skippy? The proposed Memorial Stadium redevelopment is dead in the water for the foreseeable future? Due to a massive shortfall in funding, you say??

And what's this?...the revised planning application submitted by Bristol Rovers, whilst trimming some £10m off the build cost, also includes some amendments to the original approved scheme, that are highly unlikely to receive planning approval in their present format????

So let's get this straight, what you're saying is that when the re-building fails to go ahead as planned, the Rovers board will be deflecting the blame away from their own incompetence and aiming it firmly at Bristol City Council???!!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Why has no one mentioned any of this before?

Reading between the lines, Rovers look for other options with regards ground sharing. The option is stay put, in the ground they nicked from Bristol RFC. Makes sense why there pulling out of the Cheltenham move.
