We all hear numbers banded about regarding the size of the promotion but this spells it out very clearly. If ever anyone needed a reason to get off their seats and shout us on to victory in the playoffs, this is it ... from the BBC ...

Promoted clubs 'net £60m prize'

Promotion to England's Premier League is worth at least £60m and is the biggest financial boost a football club can receive, analysts Deloitte say.

The Championship teams who win a Premier League place get £30m from TV rights, plus £5m from extra sponsorship and merchandising deals each season.

Even those who are relegated after one season get £24m over the next two years, taking the total to about £60m.

That is more than the Champions League, which can net English clubs £30m.

The size of the prizes is set to attract more money into the game, according to the accountancy firm Deloitte.

"There will continue to be significant investor interest from around the globe for English clubs, in part driven by the prospect of the financial revards and global exposure of the Premier League competition," said Alex Byars from Deloitte's Sports Business Group.

Three Championship clubs will be promoted to the Premier League next season. The two highest placed teams gain automatic promotion, with the third place going to the winner of a round of play-off matches.

League One football clubs winning spots in the Football League Championship next season will also receive a 30% increase in revenue.

Already-promoted Swansea City and two others can expect to receive a financial boost worth £1.4m, according to Deloitte.

In the light of these enormous figures, did we do enough to get the big prize when we had the opportunity?.

Whatever division we are in next season we will have to strengthen, so should we have done it then or will Dele alone prove enough?. Time will tell but those figures are enormous and at one time it seemed easily within our grasp, makes the playoff final the biggest single prize on earth.

Christ i'm feeling nervous already, :city:

To be fair everyone gets obsessed with the money!

Yes the money is great, but its only part of the equation.

the whole equation has got to include, a stable club, a fan base, a team that has been built and progressed, a manager that has the backing and the belief of people, and most importantly a goal to which everyone is working towards.

Rome wasnt built in a day.

Just look at teams such as leeds, cardiff, charlton, derby, bradford, Notts Forest, Leicester, Swindle who have had the money and it has only messed them up..... Look at them now!

Money doesnt = success, it merely fuels greed.

We are doing all right, we have a great set-up, the chairman is switched on, GJ and his team are switched on, and the fans....well?!

Yes we all wanna city top of the prem, yes we all wanna win every game, but we gotta keep doing what we have been doing over the last 2 years, quietly quietly, growing every step.

Upwards and Onwards, what ever that may bring!

Up the City, Red til Dead!!
