How To Comabt Petrol Prices

A friend sent me this email makes a lot of sense.Read it, copy and paste it and send to every person you know by email...

See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it

We are hitting 123.9 a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying 2.00 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't

continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever

thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join in!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place

not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not

purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!

Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the

message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and

pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... ..

THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt,

all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference . If this makes

sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE

It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso

This is an absolute load of rubbish. What people don't realise is that all the places that have been named at the bottom (with the exception of shell) buy their petrol off of these companies anyway so it will make bugger all difference. What's more supermarket petrol is watered down using a vegetable detergent meaning less miles to the gallon as it is not as good.

The only thing I can say is buy Shell it is the best for both economy and engine performance. Prices are going to keep going up whether we like it or not.

Exactly. and I have shares in BP so please don't boycott them!

Time for some hard truths my poor misinformed gereral public, easliy available crude oils going to run out in our lifetime. Which basiclly means we are soon to be ######.

Factoring in global growth and consumption I have been told by an extreamly well informed person we have no more than 20 yrs of free flowing fuel.

If the world knew the true extent of the oil problem there could be anarchy, and more importantly *cough* the OPEC countries shares would crash and burn.

Enjoy petrol free flowing and cheap now! - In 5 yrs time it will look like we were giving it away today.

Combat petrol prices? stop people in the City investing in Oil as a commodity. Then it'll fall back down to 70-80 USD$ a barrell.

Not going to happen in todays climate. The price of the safer investments (oil, gold etc) are going to keep on going up for a while.

The price will come down when they see greater returns from their riskier (shares) investments, but yes in general they will make profits one way or another.

Money makes the world go round for better or worse!

I've got another idea, fill up with red diesel. I work for a company with a 12tonne Diesel forklift so we've always got a decent supply of the stuff.

Yes it's illegal, and yes you get a hefty fine (at least) for tax evasion, but I'd be surprised if people didn't start doing this on a larger scale.

Oh and in case some goody two shoes is reading, no I'm not planning on actually doing it. The risk of getting caught and being raped for a large amount of money is too big.

it's not the price of petrol thats so much of a problem, it's the TAX!! added afterwards, britains petrol is something like the 4th cheapest in europe before tax but after the greedy b*stards in the government add on a whopping amount of tax it becomes the MOST EXPENSIVE petrol in europe.

Gordon brown and his mate Alistair darling are one of the main problems in the high price of petrol, they were going to add another 2p on top of the already high tax this autumn, but thankfully that has been scrapped.

whens the next general election?, i can't wait!

Tell China to curb their demand...

The larger companies dominate the market, they set the price. Anyway, if 'smaller' oil companies suddenly have an incredible surge in demand causing a shift, then their prices will rise and equlibrium price will be forced even higher. Even more so if they cannot meet the demand that arises when all these Britons decide not to buy from the largest suppliers.

This email chain is the stupidest thing going.
