94th Minute
I think they're new; but as always when I think I've found a new band, there will be someone who will claim to have been listening to them for aggggeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees, on supercool pirate radio stations or something Not here though, I don't think anyone would admit to it, but I sort of like these guys; is there something wrong with me? The music just seems really upbeat and fun, they write thier own stuff, so hold the credibility over most pop, whilst just being 'fun' music Anyway heres 2 of their songs if you haven't heard them: What do you all think of them. PS/ Someone will probably still claim to have heard them first...wayyyyyy back in a party in 2006, it was crazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzy; you had to be there man (I imagine)
CiderEagle
They're superb, you're right, and I can't claim to have been listening to them for ages although I HAVE seen them twice in London (sorry!) 8=) Its not the sort of thing I generally listen to but there's a freshness about them that is impossible to hate. Everybody I've played them to has the same reaction, even die hard Zeppelin fans and indie kids. There'll always be a place for good pop tunes played by fresh-faced Scandinavians IMO. PS - They're called Alphabeat not Alphabeats but I think your version is actually a much better name.
swji
Oh god... EDIT: To be honest though, they're not THAT bad

tombcfc
Ok, your story sounds alright, I guess I'll have to claim to be the second person on the forum to have found them... They're a good band, but I don't think you can claim to have discovered them... Both songs have been played on Radio 1 for a while!!! Nice try... don't give up the day job. There's this new band, Queen or something? Have you heard of them? I think they're quite good!!

CiderEagle
If we're on the subject of new bands, anyone got any they would like to share with the group ? There used to be loads of these threads on here years ago, can't believe all the music-heads have decamped to Drowned In Sound. I'd like to chuck the name Tankus The Henge into the pot. Listen to Smiling Makes The Day Go Quicker on their myspace, its fab.

CiderEagle
The Alphabeat album is out this week and though I haven't heard it yet, I see it includes a cover of PiL's classic debut single "Public Image" ...
WTFiGO!?!
Quick off the mark, eh (cheers for the opinion! nice to know what you think of the band) Sorry mate, was just 'being funny'. Don't really know them other than that 'Fascination' release played on the radio, not particularly in touch. Seems alright I s'pose.
East End Lad
The Cribs - not much chart success apart from 'Mans needs' but well worth a listen to.

I'd expect them to fade as fast as a pair of new jeans used to back in the 70's Thanks for the tip anyway........ and keep up the good work........ tommy doc
If we're recommending Scandanavian music then may i suggest Mando Diao? Not new as such, although they may well be new to you. Here's a few of there more fantastic tracks: God Knows Unusually for a band of their ilk they tend to flit between two different vocalists. And, they're better than this alphabeat, who i saw for the first and only time whilst i was getting my hair cut a week ago, and they looked pants. Sorry, I was in a bit of a bad mood that day, doing exams and stuff, looking back there wasn't anything wrong with what you said...I almost certainly would have done the same in the hope of being funny. Got into them purely by accident by FOPP playing their album Ode to Ochrasy whilst I was browsing. One of my best ever impulse buys! Other bands I've recently got into include The Duke Spirit and Operator Please.
dezgimed
As far as new music goes, Duffy is doing well, a powerful ballard and video out at the moment. And that foxy little Aussie girl, who has nothing sweet about her, aint bad. Winner for me though is these guys: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=K2Dl3VQ2K2U How they managed to bang out a song with such an 80's beat is beyond me, but the video too is bloody hilarious. BS10 RED
I don't normally like bands like this i put them ion the same mould as Scissor Sisters who i really do not like. But Alphabeats are pretty good, I'm also liking Hot Chip and Vampire Weekend at the moment go on you tube and check them out
Redhyde
Evil corporate backed annoying teen, raised by her parents to make money for them. But..good song...
RED4LIFE
Sorry, but Alphabeat suck the fat one IMO. Far too poppy for my tastes. If you want some decent Scandinavian music, may I suggest Lykke Li or Ida Maria, as they are both very good. Sorry, I'm feeling far too lazy to post links, but if you check out filestube dot com, I'm sure you will find them there somewhere.
