Presumably a goalkeeper, left centre back, 2 midfielders and 2 forwards as a minimum. Unless any of our coveted players move on, of course, then who knows. Should be an exciting Summer. Robson
Can imagine El-Abd leaving if Bury are interested. Perhaps Burns and Reid to go back out on loan if they won't get first team football. That would leave us with 14 players.
Ben4BCFC
Jesus. When you look at that squad it really does highlight how much more impressive our success this season has been on such a paper-thin squad. Quality over quantity though - can't see a passenger in that 14 that ashtonwall93 mentioned we'd be left with.

samo II
Someone on here told me I was mad suggesting we'd sign 6/7 players again this summer, but when you look at that, I don't think that seems unlikely at all now. Number of the remaining (as many as perhaps five) I can see being made availble for loan/leaving despite holding contracts (Burns, Wagstaff, Reid, El Abd & possibly Osborne), though a couple might be kept as squad members; who knows? But do think the squad if not the starting eleven might have more than one or two new regulars next season, and not just on the bench.

How I see it, so in reality we could be looking at a squad of 13 if all leave. Imo we NEED 1 GK 1 RWB 1 CB 2 CM 2 ST So 7 players and even then its a squad of 20, maybe enough if we plan on loaning again, but think we may be looking for 21/22 players by the end of summer. And that's assuming we won't be fighting off offers for the ones we are hoping to stay. We have ran the squad very light this year, no doubt a settled squad was one of the reasons for our success. I hope we don't widen the squad too much, but have cover and quality when needed. It's a fine line for sure.

BS30 Reds
Big part of the close knit group is not having players sat in the stands week in week out. SC has done well getting the players out on loan. Same philosophy will apply next year i'd imagine.
Marina's Rolls Royce
The PFA League one player of the month might be a good signing. http://www.sport.co.uk/football/tavernier-and-akins-claim-league-one-and-two-pfa-fans-playe/6118719/?#RXq1wTd50rjh1YcK.97 Didn't realise he was only 23- impressive CV in that time and virtually ready made for the position. Leveller
I wonder how Cotts will feel about letting JET go if an irresistible comes in for Freeman? No comparison. JET would not have been a suitable replacement for the job Freeman does.
Nogbad the Bad
Won't update the squad list until there's a bit more action, but a late mention for Karleigh Osborne, season long loan to AFC Wimbledon 2/7/15. Squad total:

Would be interested where we stand in terms of smallest squad size in the whole football league; must be close.
B-Rizzle
I'm as frustrated as anyone about our lack of activity/success so far in the transfer windows so far and I know there are elements of having such a small squad that is concerning but it's SOOO much better than having a large squad with loads of dead wood that will never play. We're actually in a very good position as a club!

miketh2nd
I think the key to shifting deadwood is being careful with the length of contracts. Of course some slip the net ala jet but we have no Brian wilsons, fosters etc.... I'm a little anxious we haven't even signed one player but Cotterill did warn us to be patient and we saw how well cotterill worked the loan market last season
Sniper
Good point. It's also good to see how much better the club has become at shifting deadwood and those on the fringes. The easiest way not having to shift deadwood is not to sign any in the first place but easier said then done though, Tony 'Wonder Trialist' Dinning springs to mind. B-Rizzle
Well said. Theres a load of deadwood in this division with 5 clubs having over 30 in their squad; Cardiff - 38 Charlton - 34 Fulham - 32 Brentford - 31 Wolves - 31 A few with 26-29 as well. They must be looking to offload quite a few before the end of August.. That's where we'll make our signings too, taking the likes of Saville or Judge off of Wolves and Brentford as they'll no longer get a look in. Admin Ian M Posted July 12, 2015 Admin Report Share Posted July 12, 2015 I think we will see this as club policy under Cotts. With his budget he prefers to have a smaller group of permanent players who should, in theory at least, be of a higher standard than we have been used to and then top it up with a handful of loans. This should mean each Summer we have scope to recruit better players.
Corsham Alf
Saville would not be a good signing. He's lightweight & nowhere near good enough for the Championship

As well as we did last season it was in a lower league. I doubt we are very high on available players lists. Still lots of time. Don't think it is the end of the world if Wes Burns and Bobby Reid are on the bench to start the season until we finish our business. The squad has to be bigger and they know that. Garland-sweden
Maybe one of Burns or Reid will have a good season ore both. Think last season we played the first 17 leauge games with the same 11players. 4 new players would be good.
