  2. Given Omicron is predicted to be the predominant covid variant by Christmas/New Year, and as yet there is no evidence that the first two-dose vaccine has a significant impact against it, it feels like another ill-thought out policy. Most likely being introduced to distract us from other matters (can't think what...)

  3. I refuse to support the club in person or with my family once vaccine passports are introduced. I have been a season ticket holder on and off for 40 years…. I will happily join any protest outside Ashton Gate … JJ

  4. There were a good number or them absolutely trolleyed at London Bridge at past 7pm as I was heading home. Not only did they have little chance of making kick off but they've obviously not been to Charlton for a while as they all marched resolutely in the same direction as me to the Millwall platforms, singing songs and chanting. I did briefly start pointing them in the opposite direction to little effect (Charlton train is literally the far other end of the station) but they were in their own little world & given their description of us as window lickers and bitter over Ashton I left them all to it.

  5. Well here in Alberta Canada, you are basically hamstrung to do anything but food shopping if you haven't been double jabbed, you then get a QR code issued that is then used to be scanned for entry in to any public business. I'm about to lose my job as it's 1500km away from home and I have to fly there, but as I'm not jabbed I can't use the planes. I remember Gulf War syndrome and the effects that "vaccine" had, so sorry not sorry I'm opting out until I feel there's enough evidence that it will benefit me

  6. Why would you protest against the club. It’s a government introduced regulation that the club must abide by.

  7. You've not looked at the forums of Independiente or Kashima Antlers this morning then...? They're all on about it...

  8. BRISTOL ROVERS FC STATEMENT: We are delighted that the new "Plan B" restrictions won't apply to us, because we have no hope in hell of attracting 10,000 to The Swap. We'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas & welcome you all to "Santa's Grotto" - please note that a tetanus jab is advised if visiting & BRFC accept no liability for any other diseases contracted whilst on the premesis, HOWEVER; don't panic if you have lost the sense of taste. This will have been evident long before Covid & is symptomatic in all Bristol Rovers fans. END.

  9. Love him or hate him, wholesome moment getting to hear Robbie Savage commentate whilst his son makes his debut for Manchester United just now! Must be a the peak of proud dad moments.

  10. Crikey! With the terrorist threat security checks and the vaccine passport checks before you even get to the turnstiles, better get there mid morning for a 3 o'clock K.O.

  11. Once again, the MODS of this forum being as in touch as the Tories. Doesn't matter WHO introduces Plan B, but rather the impact on those who go to games and how they might decide not to bother, will get there earlier, will use or won't use public transport. So I maintain football chat is still the right place for this!

  13. Lots of diseases we're vaccinated against have high survival rates. It also isn't just about that as I'm sure you know - it's about transmission and the healthcare burden. I guess your last sentence is where we differ. I'd rather not die before my time due to something preventable if I can at all help it! I'm in my mid 30s and want to see us in the prem ffs..!

  14. Nope, a disease with the huge survival rate it has won't make me take something I don't want in my body, I take my chances the same with every other disease out there, something will kill me one day, don't care what it is

  15. Being additionally protected from a disease which has cause a global pandemic lasting almost 2 years now with millions dead, and not losing your job into the bargain isn't enough benefit then presumably...?

  16. I’m against vaccine passports. I won’t be attending. Will take my custom to Forest Green or Cheltenham instead whilst this idiocy reigns.

  17. (Not suggesting you are) but I struggle to understand why people would look for loop holes in this. Setting up the NHS app to show your double vaccination takes a matter of minutes and is simple. If you don't have a phone you can get a paper covid passport (I believe). Simple. If you can't have the jabs for medical reasons then I'm sure there must be some excemptions in place (rightly). If you're one of those that are anti vax or just couldn't be bothered to get vaccinated then **** em. No sympathy. The only thing that is more of a concern or unknown to me is how the club is going to be set up ready to check EVERYONE and whether staff actually will.

  19. Happy for it to come in as COVID numbers are ramping back up and anything to help the NHS is welcome IMHO. Hoping City / Bears have plans in place for organising it and how the logistics will impact upon match days. Can see it being a mare tbh!

  20. Odd that Transfer market have his current value listed as £9m - I know that's far from accurate, but as a guide..! Having sold him for £13m+ it would take a huge transfer fee to net us anything like "millions" IF (&that's a big IF, based on the size of the initial fee) we had a 20% sell on clause, then it's going to take a fee of £25m+ to net us that kind of windfall. Possible, of course, especially at his young age, but for a player who's, unproven at Premier league level, and the possibility that the sell on clause may be 10% rather than 20%, I don't think we should get too excited at the hope of this bolstering our transfer budget my any significant amount - all helps though, of course.

  23. It might have been a bit OTT BUT Swiss Tony was giving it the big one after signing 19 players and last night Ipswich got absolutely battered, not even a shot on target. I suppose that would annoy a few (the ones who don't call us window lickers and have their heads literally stuck up their arses, that is). The lucky thing for us was that when Ashton got rumbled and knew he was finished here he was able to work behind the scenes to secure his exit strategy. Let's not kid ourselves it's still going to take years to clear up the mess that Swiss and Johnson left behind them, completely and utterly condoned by Legacy Boy, but at least it's being slowly sorted. Win/Win for everyone. Swiss will likely get rumbled very quickly now assuming Ipswich fans aren't as thick as they ******* look (unless he breaks tradition and appoints a very good Manager which will dilute his power) but where will he piss off to in the next couple of years? Ipswich are stuck with Swiss Tony for a while, no doubt about it, and given the reaction of many of their fans at being told what he would do to them there couldn't be more of a match made in heaven.

  26. I don’t think anyone has anything against Ipswich(actually think of them as a decent set of fans), it’s just there CEO. For the moment those 2 are difficult to separate but when he leaves I know who I will still have a problem with and who I don’t.

  28. It's all happening much quicker with them than us and there are a few contributory factors. 1. The players are not as good as the squad we had in 2016. Ayling, Flint, Baker, Bryan, Pack, Smith, Freeman, Reid, Kodjia. He's assembled the current Ipswich squad more or less. It's down to him and he's made no secret of it. 2. He was insulated from criticism by Steve Lansdown who appeared publicly when we were doing crap and backed the manager. Ashton was nowhere. Now Ashton is front and centre and having made the mistake of sacking a perfectly competent manager. Attention will turn to him sharpish as the penny drops amongst the less delusional Ipswich fans.

  32. I did chuckle at a post on their forum, I read a day or so ago. 'City have a better, team, support, infrastructure, ground, position, owner and more money'. The reply: 'Apart from all that we're doing quite well though.' Fair play to the gashead that posted that reply, it did make me laugh! ?

  33. I went to Cardiff recently, to a theatre (to see comedian Joel Dommett) and we had to show the vaccine passports on our phones, paper copies were not acceptable. The door person had to look at our phone and wait until she saw movement on the screen, the bar on the app sort of faded in waves. It was pretty hard to see to be fair. This was to prove we hadn’t took a screen shot from somewhere. I can see this getting messy.

  39. FWIW I have Kelly down at £15m plus £6m of add-ons plus a sell-on, from a very credible source. On the basis of a 20% sell-on: £20m - nets us £1m £25m - £2m £30m - £3m etc. All very useful, but not earth-shattering in the context of our losses.

  47. Despite the obvious depth of feeling against Ipswich Town FC on here recently, I will never forget that Ipswich played a match vs Southampton back in 1982 in aid of our players who were caught up in the horrendous financial situation that defined our history at that time - for me, the Tractor Boys and the Saints will always have my respect for that gesture ...

  48. I think we’ve hit our ceiling under SL’s leadership. Beyond that, who knows? I’ve always believed a city the size of Bristol should be able to sustain a mid-sized PL club. A new owner could be the only way I get to see that in my lifetime.
