  1. "No one whatsoever" has witnessed a great deal of terrible Lansdown shenanigans on these very pages. But getting back to my earlier point- there have been a number of good players at BCFC who have refused to sign, wound down their contract, only to take a career nose dive . The likes of Carey and Murray made a better choice when discovering the greener grass was harder to mow.
  2. I'd completely forgotten about the Bristol accent thing with Maynard- what did his son end up with? McTaffney?
  3. Joe Bryan- agree 100% Players leaving to further their careers like Maynard ,Fam and Massengo- it's just a tiny weeny bit funny when they don't especially when they find that BCFC was their finest moment.
  4. I really didn't find losing or the performances comedic but that's just a personal view. Yes, I agree. But the decision on his future (in the absence of sustained progress) is not mine or yours to make and I don't take dismissals personally- you should try it! I suspect that for you- it depends who's in charge
  5. Well, if you think BCFC losing is comedy then I think that says everything about your so say support for this club. The 'can't let go' club are very funny. I started a thread in Nov 22 entitled 'Pearson Out'- simply as I didn't think he'd take us anywhere as he subsequently proved to all the world- I never said anything remotely insulting about him.. Shame that supporting revisionist history has become your thing. Let it all out, Dave, but try and keep it real. I also said NP did good things in the same way as SO'D did- taking over a difficult situation. I thought he was broadly professional but dismissed for the right reasons Haha! So anyone who didn't want Pearson long term is now a Manning worshipper!!! I think he's done some good as most have at some point but I couldnt give a shite whether he's the manager or not just like Pearson- it's about results and where we are at the end of the season. I'll support him until he's proved beyond any doubt that he is not up for the role. 12 Championship teams have dismissed their Manager this season. 13 in League 1 and 10 in L2. It happens but SL has never been trigger happy. P.s I think Brian Tinnion has done a great job. Steve Lansdown is a good owner, built a solid Championship club with his money not "ours" and we've been very lucky to have him.
  6. 'Our Nige' the gift that keeps on giving. Pure comedy gold. Please don't stop.
  7. Even a mention of Reading suggests you may well have missed the point. Reading are missing the points too- best to pay your players and HMRC. Derby entered into administration and are now in League 1 so not a great comparison irrespective of Cat status. And capacity is not the issue when discussing grounds whereas quality and general facilities are. In terms of Academy, well it's pretty much splitting hairs. Alex joined age 16 and "In December 2019, Scott signed a pre-contract agreement with Championship side Bristol City.[4] Having initially linked up with the club's academy, Scott signed his first professional contract with Bristol City in March 2021" Semenyo was signed as a 17 yr old from College and developed by BCFC. In our first team we have Pring(from age 17/18), O'Leary,Bell, Conway and Vyner so that's an impressive result from home grown. BRISTOL CITY are the leading team in England’s top two divisions this season when it comes to fielding homegrown players. The CIES has ranked teams in 60 leagues around the world according to the percentage of domestic league minutes played by ‘club-trained’ footballers during the current season (up to November 15th). Leeds are 4th. Southampton/leeds/Leicester are above us on most levels but there aren't too many other clubs which are better placed in terms of overall set up.
  8. I base this on our ground, our facilities including the HPC, our fan base, our academy, our ownership, stability and also the fact that we have one of the highest proportion of home grown first team players in Europe. if you ask our position is then that's different- currently 12th and could go higher or lower. Results or League position is a different subject to our set up.
  9. 2 sub appearances v Liverpool and Leicester. with less than 30 mins combined. He was not England U21 but had played in the U19's until he joined BCFC after which he was promoted to U21 in Sept 2016. But facts aren't your strong point!
  10. But he has commented and I posted his comment above. The fact that @Natchfever chooses to ignore the fact is par for the agenda course.
  11. I think that Cornick is better served in the first team than Yeboah as Yeboah needs more time and experience. I have no idea about Mebude as he played for about 5 minutes then something like half an hour (whatever) but certainly not enough to truly judge, surely? Mehmeti- I don't really get this player. Your point was that Yeboah going on loan to Bath is sending the wrong message and I completely disagree in that I think it gives him a chance to build again. “He’s had a real quick rise to success, then again he’s had a bit of a challenging period at the minute, which is fine. It doesn’t change what we think of him. We know his qualities, our job is to coach and support him,” Manning said. “His job, as he has done, and I can’t stress that enough, is turn up and work as hard as I can everyday and I have to say, he’s a credit to himself because his attitude is terrific.”
  12. I think that the academy has sent enough good messages already. And Bath City has been a very good club for a number of our best academy players "on loan". Yeboah was introduced to the first team either as a result of need or as a point- my guess is the former as I dont think Nige played games. He showed glimpses of good potential but nothing more. A loan is brilliant for him and I hope he does really well then has another go at BS3 at some point next season.
  13. So Bergkamp states: "It is still a dream of mine to develop players, run an academy, and use all our knowledge and experience to get promoted. “Not with a foreign billionaire who puts in a lot of money just to go up quickly. If you have a group of former top footballers together then you just start lower. I am convinced that with a club in League One, with real football knowledge, you can get promoted to the Championship within five years, 10 years at most." After a failed bid to buy Wycombe Wanderers so time ago, he's back looking in the lower leagues. So in order for many to see their dream come true and be rid of the current ownership then all we need is to get relegated and then hopefully we'll be back up in 5-10 years. I think I'll stick with supporting Lansdown.
  14. See Dave- I'll quote stuff you get bang on right (imo) as well as stuff you don't(imo) . It's definitely about balance which otib has lost atm. The OP ( @old_eastender) started a thread a couple of weeks back about our possible relegation. Now it's one about sacking the new manager and appointing a player. Providing one doesn't take it too seriously- it's great fun reading and endlessly entertaining.
  15. Completely agree . My personal opinion is that Brian Tinnion has done really well for BCFC and has been instrumental in changing the reliance on new signings to a pathway for home grown talent. The first team squad for several years is testament to this. It's funny that a number of posters have vented their spleen about a simple predictable and inevitable change of manager as it may involve a rebuild yet , at the same time, are demanding a much much bigger rebuild for the entire club, ownership and staff. Comedy gold.
  16. Knowle 'bread'- probably sourdough these days . Get it at Safeways in the precinct.
  17. It's the only thing on the menu at the moment- I never said I'm "happy" these are your made up words to support your agenda. I said "I'm relatively ok". As for saying I'm uncomfortable being challenged- I think we both know that's your bs. I never hide, go missing or back down if I believe something unlike some- it's the best bit of otib. This is an anonymous forum so there's no walk of shame although clearly some see it as a alternative reality popularity contest. For me it's fun. Please explain in as much detail as possible how City get promotion this season or next or the one after? Because this is something I can't clearly see but you obviously can otherwise you wouldn't be making the statements you do. And it's not about what City shouldn't be doing - it's about what they should. Explain.
  18. I suppose you may wish to see it as apathy. You clearly are on a points mission from your original post. With my views I'm easy game for a few 'likes' etc I said some time ago on numerous posts/threads that after Jet left- I'd no longer get 'attached' to a footballer at BCFC. The same goes for managers- after Cotts. It seems you have a problem if someone doesnt get posessed with incadescent rage if e lose or euphoria if we in. Maybe you don't go to matches or aren't a Bristolian? Im Southmead born, Knowle bread and have lived in Bristol pretty much all of my life. I've supported BCFC post Dicks so never witnessed top flight. I started back in Div 4 Terry Cooper when Marina Dolman took me to my first ever game at BS3 so at least half of my support is lower league. I don't have great expectations of Premiership football although I believed it for one season under Gary and one under Lee. Since then anyone expecting promotion with what we have is dreaming. I'm relatively ok about where we are as a club and really hope and dream of better but not as a matter of entitlement. If I order a burger and expect a fillet then I'm the delusional one not the person serving me.
  19. Thanks for the heads-up. We'll just have to wait and see what happens next.
  20. I think that he has intermittently got his team playing at a level I haven't seen in years.
  21. Manning: I like him , disappointed that he seems to have stuttered when it matters but I wasn't expecting promotion whosoever was in charge. I don't see this current squad a Premiership team in waiting but certainly capable of better as some results have indicated. I think Liam will do better as he learns on the job, develops his way of playing and squad and if he doesn't then we'll find another manager. Club's decision making? Broadly pretty solid- I'm a big fan of Steve Lansdown and pretty happy where we are in terms of stability, financial and facilities. We are a pretty solid Championship team. Hope for better but there isn't a team in the Championship whose fans don't dream of of promotion at the start of every season- it's why we support. Chances of promotion "as set by the club". Every single season someone within BCFC will state that the aim is promotion and it always makes me smile but it will be a cold day in hell when someone comes out and says " we're hoping for a good mid-table finish".
  22. Really- you can do so much better. Ask me specifically for what you want my thoughts on and I'll answer unless you were just looking to score points?
  23. Absolutely I've got thoughts- on just about everything but if you can please be much more specific , I can give you a much more specific answer.
  24. I'm not sure it ended well! I've just sent a message as someone has asked to get a shirt signed next time Ivan is visiting. I'll update when I hear back.
