  1. We could do a straight swap,. After all Sean Dyche has already achieved promotion with us?
  2. Listening to Ben Garner on BBC Radio Bristol today, he did make one interesting comment. This was that he thought League 1 & 2 should start next season one or two weeks before the Premier League and Championship. I would agree, their seasons other than playoffs are over. It could certainly be financially beneficial TV etc and might help some of the lower league clubs that would otherwise struggle , to survive.

  4. Seems to be the thinking. Will have 13 clubs not 12 next season..
  5. Like many I expect several of us have already had it. A colleague of mine back in February said she had never had ‘Flu’ like it and was prescribed antibiotics for a chest infection. We won’t really know until there is an antibody test, rather than a test for whether or not we have it now.
  6. As has benn proved many times in Football, be careful what you wish for.
  7. As I understand it although their legal counsel say they have grounds to take it to the courts , Partick Thistle are not going to appeal the decision. I suspect Partick are hoping that there may yet be a restructuring with no relegation this season
  8. But we are not paying 80% of his wages. We are only paying a maximum of £2500 per month which is taxable in the normal way. Whilst I know that many people myself included earn less than £2500 , it is not correct to say we are paying 80% of his wages, as I suspect he earns somewhat more than £2500 a month. Maybe the painting won’t raise a huge amount of funds but I admire the gesture like any other fund raising activity.
  9. I would just like to say in defence of ‘Hollowhead’ he does a lot of charity work particularly those associated with the Deaf , hearing dogs etc but also other areas and ... https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/news/grimsby-news/ian-holloway-life-lockdown-stevie-4014300
  10. A lot of clubs have donated the food to food banks, and the homeless https://www.premierleague.com/news/1645571
  11. Not always a fan of Simon Jordon, but have listened to him since this begun (and he has been on TALKSPORT a lot lately) well thought out opinion and rationale .
  12. Portsmouth to furlough their players https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/portsmouth-fc/portsmouth-players-be-placed-furlough-leave-along-most-staff-2524653
  13. Just listening to LJ on TALKSPORT talking about how he keeps in touch with the players . No mention of potential cuts to players salaries and no mention of casual staff being laid off. More to do with players ringing up fans who are over 70 who have birthdays during this time and spending 20 minutes or so chatting to them, which I thought was a nice touch.
  14. Fare Thee Well Northumberland - Mark Knopfler
  15. Sorry I missed his tweet. I know we don’t want a big fuss made, but a simple statement by the club along the lines of some of the Premier League clubs would have at least shown that an offer was there if needed. Just saw on Points West that there is a possibility that UWE may be used in some backup capacity.
  16. Seeing Plymouth Argyle are offering their boardroom for blood tests , what are City doing? Surely we have more function rooms available than Home Park.
  17. Unfortunately viruses don’t tend to discriminate between age, yes older people may be more likely to get it but it certainly and unfortunately doesn’t mean the young aren’t vulnerable. Maybe this, and the death of the 37 year old British diplomat in Budapest, will be the wake up call for some of the under 40s who think they are invincible.
  18. The statement read 25% of annual salary which I presume excluded any bonuses as they weren’t mentioned and also as there are no games there are no bonuses. So in effect the reduction on players earnings could be greater than 25%
  19. Bristol Bears also taking a 25% pay cut. I wonder if the Bristol City players will follow suit, or are their contract terms different?
  20. I was in ASDA this morning buying a newspaper. Clear signs saying max of 3 of any one item. A women puts 12 cans of potatoes in her trolley, I told her limit was 3 of any item but she just ignored me and carried on adding another 4 cans. Everyone was looking at her and her partner/husband was looking slightly embarrassed. Great when she got to the till and they would only sell her the 3 tins.
  21. Well as Ireland have just announced the shut down of their pubs apparently in part due to the irresponsible behaviour of some, and worries about St Patrick’s day on 17th March how long before he won’t be able to stay in Spoons?
  22. Pity I hadn’t. If I had, I might have recognised who the 3rd mystery player was at the Quiz
  23. I agree one thread within the football forum, on similar lines to the Rovers thread. If you don’t want to read it, it’s your choice.
