He set a club record for consecutive league defeats, Dave, in 16/17. That was pretty bad going. -
S'OD took over here with us bottom of the Championship, and then left us third bottom of League One. (Then Cotts came in, with us third bottom of L1, and left us third bottom of the Championship).

Reminded me of Spike Island, 1990.

Radio Local: "Are you up for the fight?" SO'D: "Yes." How hard is that?

Always makes me chuckle, we sign a player most of us know pretty much nothing about (Gustav Engvall: If we go back and look at that thread, there will surely be people nodding approvingly and starting to dream), and posters are clearly 1. Relieved 2. Excited and 3. Getting carried away. And it keeps happening, summer after summer. With this club's history and record, we should be sceptical and circumspect whenever we sign any player, and not read anything into his debut (good or bad), or pre-season games. But people can't help themselves - they're desperate for new signings like someone been out on the scrump on a hot summer's night but then fer-gets to take a jug of water up to bed with them 'ankers after that first slurp of h2o. We haven't signed anyone yet? Great. Well done Nige.

Teams who've never made the Prem...
Bristol Oil Services replied to spudski's topic in Football Chat
This is surprisingly vague coming from yerself, if I may say. "It's just not happened yet" ? If there were such a thing what might our expected promotion (xP) be at this level? With one exception in 40 plus years, we just are never anywhere near. "It's really hard to get promoted" and yet, every year, three clubs are promoted. In fact, they must and inevitably will be. Many years, a club without PP manages it. In fairness though, it is really hard to get promoted from this level without PP. The thing about us is, we can spend years at this level and never be anywhere near, not have a chance. You do not need PP to be "there or thereabouts" and if you can finish 6th then you have a shot, a chance. Under SL we have had one such shot in umpteen seasons, that surely to goodness is an "overarching failure" on his part? -
To borrow from Ann Widdecombe, there is something of the night about Jose Mourinho.

Naismith to knock some Marlon Pack diagonals to the back stick v Cov, hopefully with someone other than Nakhi lurking behind Jay to get on the end of them. Proper football

A (or an attempt at a) satire on the "be careful what you wish for" lot. I think you missed that. Don't worry about it. -

Thank you, Phil. Someone gets it. It's silly season, when the transfer window opens we can move on to that serious business -
