  1. Yes , I agree I think or anticipate ‘dips’ and the odd bloody nose and I just hope that everyone doesn’t react with knee jerk reactions in disappointment and critque Im not sure where, just really really intrigued , where this season will go , ( my head tells me depths quality wise in squads will tell and benefit some other teams , and make life difficult for us ) My sole ‘interest’ is Bristol City not any individual I was intrigued and pleased by Pearson’s appointment , I’ve always liked his straightforward and honest approach , and I can honestly say I think he’s actually exceeded any of my expectations in a number of aspects , and impressed me far more than I thought he would. I think we have a really good genuine leader , with a staff he’s assembled and seems happy with , a set of hungry players who are playing for him , and a feel good factor , it would appear around the whole club. That means for me that , finances aside , and we are getting there too, we are in a really good place and on a good progressive trajectory Losing one of the young stars or injuries could disrupt us for a period , but we won’t go completely off the rails , and , if we maintain patience will be back on track relatively quickly Theres a lot of phraseology in modern football , much of which I hate But there’s one that’s very apt for me and made for us atm ‘Trust the process’ (Under the current management) I certainly do
  2. I never felt the high press , exhausted theory was correct I felt the players lost belief that they were in with a serious chance of promotion and a couple or more were starting to make plans to be elsewhere and , nowhere near down tooled , but lost a bit of focus , and more importantly belief and momentum Not helped by adding Kent and Diony either on the pitch or I’d suggest in terms of squad togetherness
  3. Yes, the Leeds replay was a Tuesday afternoon definitely due to the power cuts But I was referring to the first game at AG on a Saturday and just noted the KO time, which I don’t remember It can only be for the same reason
  4. Some of those almost sent an electric shock down the spine - The Leeds & Liverpool FA cup 74 ones particularly On a side note , and I was there, but I see it has the Leeds Kick Off at 2.30pm - , Liverpool 3pm - I cant remember the Leeds KO time , and can only assume it was in the hope of not using floodlights as light went ? , due to the power crisis ? Can anyone remember ?
  5. Btw Robbo i know you are trolling , but Whilst lauding Wilson RR and his attacking front foot football , you also appear to have omitted John Ward , whose team played better football than Wilson’s , scored more goals , had a better goal difference .... and got promoted , automatically ..... Yoy and your City recall ehhhhhh
  6. Oooooooooooh Silvio pushes to the top of the betting at 8/11 ?
  7. Before you diss him too much Our ex-CEO is a ‘proper CEO’ mind Got a number of Clubs promoted to the Prem , he told us he did Proper CEO ??
  8. Gary Johnson is still a whole lot of fans favourite ever City Manager , (Hes mine and I was here for Alan Dicks onwards ) ... probably currently fighting the accolade with Cotts for many Great isn’t it ???? * Big Nige quietly heading towards the podium for me
  9. Absolutely It’s nonsense , there are and have been some great / really decent managers over the years like GJ , who have never got near the Premier League , probably for a reason , different jobs , requirements , skill sets etc Johnson’s achievements particularly at Yeovil and and us p*** all over Parker’s promotion to PL with parachute clubs for example ‘Proper manager’ is waffle , , shallow & meaningless without real context Square pegs in square holes is the key Pep for example is clearly an exceptional coach with top end players to play his absolute requirements We all joke about it , but see how good you are if thrown in at Chesterfield with players that simply can’t play the way you demand Someone like Klopp would find a way and both are unquestionably ‘elite’ managers but the fit , the requirements , the ingredients/tools available are all different
  10. So , Phil Brown another ? @Code Red Holloway ?? This is going to be fun
  11. I still find how you feel the pace of the game the lower you are and the closer you are. I think I’ve done the whole 360 of the ground as a spot over the years and half way , mid / upper Dolman , and similar height now in Lansdown if I wanted to really ‘watch the game’ including tactically etc For enjoying the experience and really ‘ feeling the game ‘, Id say alongside tunnel in the old enclosure
  12. The new ‘robot / computer’ system for offsides is coming , has been trialled and will be used at World Cup You of course need a ‘5th’ official to view the decision of the technology and the ‘relevance’ of the offside player But then With offsides and goaline decisions sorted (When it doesn’t fail !) I’d leave it at those two things only Actually can I choose 3 - Violent conduct No other interference or minutes of VAR checking , Not for pens , fouls in build up to goals etc etc
  13. I think the HPC , for all we’ve had a laugh about at times , has been really significant besides the actual facilities , U23s integrating with first team , coaches , Pearson etc etc Im sure it’s given Scott and Conway leg up and the benefit to those coming up through, even more All in one site is really significant step for us IMHO
  14. What’s your explanation of a ‘proper manager ‘ then ? That phrase means nothing and is waft, without an explanation ? or is it as shallow as you’ve inferred ?
  15. Big call , and difficult , to overrule technology (That generally seems to work well) isn’t it ! Youd have to Bloody sure ! ? and brave !
  16. Danny Wilson.......hmmm..... Nigel Pearson would have most of that squad on the bus The National Coach to Inverness or Aberystwyth Wilson might have done part of a job , to a degree, , but that squad should have achieved far more They had a culture though , unfortunately it was based in the City Centre , and occasionally at Bridewell police Station. Good Manager ? .....hmmmmm
  17. Really like these videos filmed from the different angles, shows the pace of the game and catches little bits , like players reactions that you don’t get on traditional highlights ?️?
  18. It would be interesting if you get a incident as on Saturday , but where a linesman (or Referee) can see that it’s clearly gone over the line , but receive no signal ,whether they’d be brave enough to give the goal
  19. You can have technology or no technology But if two alleged Premier League Standard officials watch a defender forcefully push an attacker into his goalkeeper , A number of times on replay , and come to the conclusion that it’s (Newcastle game) No goal , not a penalty , but in fact .............a free kick to the defending team ?? You sort of give up really Truly unbelievable , I assume severely incompetent rather than corrupt
  20. How can it be a ‘bookable offence’ Marcus - The balls in play ! If it persists they need to go back to x seconds rule (Once you’ve handled it)
  21. Well said , he is incredibly rude , and thinks it’s his podcast His loud audible groan when Dave mentioned OTIB was hilarious
  22. So taking it to extremes , In reality , you could keep a player near their penalty box the whole game and unless the ball is played to him , or he doesn’t make himself active , wait for the suitable moment to create an overload in the attack or just a 2v 1 , and score , as long as he’s onside when scoring / receiving the assist
