To us of an 'older persuasion !' we can remember when a Labour candidate was usually a working class type of chap. My G- Grandad for example was a Miner in SL Lane Pits, became a Union Leader, Councillor, Alderman and then Lord mayor of Bristol in 1948. He came from the Chessels and ad a right old bemmy accent. When you look at the bio's of prospective Labour candidates and sitting MP's, a hard days work never seems to be part of their CV. I think too many of them nowadays are theorists and look at a prospective Socialist Britain with rose tinted glasses. At least the Tories do come from Business or similar and know that there is nothing like a 'free lunch!'

Just imagine for one moment that you are an alien and have just landed on earth. A host takes you around to hear world leaders bleating out their messages for the faithful. You are then whisked to parts of the world where poverty is absolutely rife and you see human beings scratching to survive on a daily basis, you are then taken to LA on Oscar Night and see the lavish way 'celebrities' are feted, especially some that have made films about the former, and the wastage of money that occurs. I for one would not understand it until I returned to my home planet and was told............thats what religion and politics could do here if we let It !

Not wrong. Long believe our system is shall we say maybe not entirely good for all. London and Home Counties get a shitload of stuff...not just news but everything better than the rest of us well maybe not everything but lots of stuff.

Because London is the capital.....same in most old countries where the capital gains as the centre of things. Berlin, Paris, Rome, Warsaw, Moscow, Vienna, Maadrid, Athens, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Brussels and Lisbon all have the same dominance. if its not its cos the capital is not the major city. LA, Amsterdam, Glasgow, Johannesburg, Sydney are all the centres of their world.....London also benefits majorly by being nearer the European mainland....

Not saying it dont have a false sense of its own importance....I dislike london intensely cos its not England its a world city...the Brits let alone the English are a minority in their own city.

It also shares with all its northern counterparts all the grime, shit money, poor housing, low pay for its working people. Oh yeah and it votes Liebour in very large numbers.

One other point. for all those services everyone wants, we would have to pay a shit load of tax.

So tax the rich I hear the proletariat scream.....fine, do that. how low down the wage scale would you go. my last employer was taxed on 40%......he couldnt afford to hire more workers, so those he had were worked into the deck....he although not a particular nice man, was someone who realised the workers being overworked, but the reality is theyd have to. And this is before Liebour, the SNP & Greens come in with their dumbass ideas.

For every effect there is always a reaction.

And no one has even mentioned in a growing dangerous world out there about mahooosive cuts to defence, security & law and order.

British citizens at home and abroad are in danger, growing danger from a growing mass of extremists, fanatics and plain dangerous systems out there.

Not to mention the raw materials needed to keep us working...

Have seen not one of these charlatans come up with anything remotely sensible yet. Not one of the numerous parties infesting our system

You dislike a City because English people are a minority there?  What a horrid thing to say.

London is one of the best cities in the world in my opinion.  I find the mixture in culture something to enjoy and be proud of.

you do realise that Bucks is a migrant himself?

I've know a few migrants who have complained about the number of migrants in England. They moved away from their countries to have a better life here, only to find ghetto's of their former nation were already here ruining it for people who genuinely want a better life.

That's OK then....

Where are these ghettos you mention and how have they ever stopped me having a better life?

Well I live within a stone's throw of Molineux where a wannabe Sharia patrol tried to take over the neighbourhood (I mentioned this on another thread but it was removed and locked) - thankfully the Sikh community brought their ceremony swords to the party and that was the end of that. You wont see that in the MSM. Also just the other side of a small park is a road which is literally full of Eastern European Neo-Nazi's, and they have their own little street which I imagine the police treat as a no go area. If we play wolves next year, come up for the game and i'll show you it all if you wish. You can tell me how enriching it all is.

It doesn't stop you having a better life, but for some people it does.

I will take your word for it and that sounds horrendous.  But are these people  preventing you from going out and realizing your own goals and ambitions?

What you mention is clearly an isolated problem and just doesn't reflect the UK as a whole.  I live in Brixton and believe me we have every type of immigrant under the sun.  Has it ever stopped me doing what I want to do or restricted me in anyway? Not at all.

How is this still top of peoples agendas?  I was bought up in Thornbury which is probably 95% white British.  There are even people there who are against immigrants, whats their f*cking problem?  My understanding is they are just finding excuses because they are a bit racist.  Am I wrong?

Instead of worrying about immigrants, point your finger at people like Arron Banks who is a local white British resident that funds UKIP.  Yes, funds UKIP whilst treating his staff like shit and paying them the minimum wage.  (Incase you didnt know most of these political parties are funded by white rich people who take money away from the average working class man).  I have much more of a problem with people like that then any 'ghetto' immigrant i have encountered in this country.

You've gone from saying how the mix in culture is something to be proud of to not accepting my invitation to witnessing the area just down the road from me because it sounds "horrendous". What about the wonderful mix of culture? :-D - don't answer that, I'm playing.

Anyway, I brought a house where I did as I was looking into the possibility of being a landlord for student lets because there is a market for it in this particular region. Unfortunately, it didn't quite take off (bloody recession) and I've ended up living there. Not the worst thing in the world, but one day i'll have to try and sell this home. Even the best estate agents in the world would look at the surrounding area and gulp at the thought of having to try and sell it to someone. so in a way, that is a restriction. Plus I always drive to asda despite it being within a few hundred yards through fear of being attacked around "stabbers alley" (Molineux Alley)

Of course, what I have described is an extreme, but it's real life from what I've experienced. Just because you've never experienced it does not mean it doesn't happen more often. Friend of mine from Uni thought Wolves was a wonderful place in comparison to his home town (and it is in many ways) but he was from Luton, where he experienced many racial attacks on him and his family from followers of a certain religion of peace.

Ah come on man, you make it sound like we live in a war zone or something.

In my lifetime and network of friends I have never heard of a 'race attack' or anyone getting stabbed.  All this kind of stuff only seems to exist in newspapers and TV and never in my day to day life.  Its not like I have lived in nice places since I have been an adult as well.

I can sympathize that you have been a bit unlucky with the house and I am sure it will come good in time. At least you can have some insurance that the government and police will want to do something about the crime.  In some countries you just don't have that luxury.

Do you know what the scary thing about it all is?? There is a police academy quarters literally around the corner from my house by that park I mentioned, and it's there where I got jumped back in 2004, right outside the front door. No cameras, no help, nothing. Thankfully I held my own and they bolted on their bikes. But others are not so lucky. Funnily enough, crime has gone down since ISIS started recruiting, but I'm sure that's just a coincidence. :-)

It does only take one bad apple to ruin the whole bunch, but some areas are worse than others. It's just down to each person's individual experiences.

Anyway, little bit side tracked from the main title thread...... Vote Monster Raving Looney Party.

anyone going to watch the Leader's debate on ITV / Sky News tonight?

No

Personally reckon all those looking for our votes should each write out what they are going to do for their local areas.

If they get voted in and don't complete what they promised they should be held in breach of contract !

pretty sure David Cameron said that if they failed on their 2010 immigration pledge then they deserved to be kicked out.

Unfortunately, the way the EU is set up, it's something no nation can accomplish, so by that logic, he should go by his own word. But the Labour alternative is too worrying for words.

Yes.

I hope those two nationalist ******* make right fools of themselves; and confirm what most of us already know.

All they want is more money for their third world countries; and expect England to pay for it.
