Alleged Bolton wages...

...anyone else see this story?

Didn't Zak Clough try to negotiate being our highest wage earner as well?

Championship side Bolton Wanderers face the very real prospect of League One football next season, as they fight to remain in the second flight of English football.

With just four wins in 34 games, Neil Lennon's side are sat in 23rd place with a disappointing 25 points. Despite their admirable efforts at the weekend at Burnley, The Trotters face a real test to remain in the Championship.

Despite their poor run of form, reports online have revealed the clubs current wage bill and it will leave supporters concerned for the future of Bolton Wanderers.

Here are some of Bolton's highest earners. Just think, this could be a real issue if Bolton are relegated into League One:

Mark Davies - £18k per week
Jay Spearing - £18k per week
David Wheater - £17k per week
Liam Feeney - £17k per week
Ben Amos - £16k per week
Darren Pratley - £14k per week

Liam Trotter - £11k per week
Neil Danns - £10k per week
Derik Osede - £10k per week
Dorian Dervite - £9k per week
Gary Madine - £8k per week
Emile Heskey - £7k per week

On top of these weekly wage bills, some players receive an extra £3k per game. Plus there is NO pay cuts if Bolton are relegated from The Championship.

We will be paying these types of wages for some of our players...Baker, Tomlin etc.

which is what got us into trouble last time, sadly if we want to compete we have too, its the way football has gone and its 100% the prem's fault

Bolton outbid and outspent other clubs now they've gone bust, Leeds next?

Leeds by all accounts have managed to get their losses down from over £18m last year to just over £2m this time around!!

It was mentioned on Soccer AM on Saturday!!

I don't think Cellino will allow them to go bust, it maybe one of the reasons that their managers gut such short contracts, that way he's not left with a huge pay off when he lets them go!!

Their fans didn't give a stuff when Gartside was campaigning to have the Premier League as a closed shop so **** Bolton.

Fair play to Martin Samuel when this crap was initially spouted :

Too right. They lived beyond their means, knew they were living beyond their means and were campaigning for insurance for when the bubble burst, which they knew it was going to.

For those that say 'we (as fans) would be the same', I don't think so. When the Gray and Gayle bids plenty moaned about us overspending, about us showing our financial hand and what knock on effect it would have for other transfers we might try to make.

Really - wow!  I've just revised my opinion of Cellino.

I saw on a Forest forum after we beat them that they lost £21m last year, maybe they're next then.

We all know how much TV money goes to clubs in the prem.

With this in mind, I was gobsmacked when reading that Bolton made a profit in only 1 (perhaps2) of the 11 seasons they were in the prem.

If this is the case then it's hardly a surprise they are going down the financial pan in the  championship.

The more I read stories like this the more I'm amazed that fans still think it's a good idea for SL to throw big money at transfers and wages. He wants the club to be self supporting and sustainable long term and I think he's right .

I can't argue with that but the difference between City and many clubs in the shite is that our owner is a fan and has billions . I think that's why some people believe he should dig deeper to get us where we want to be and perhaps work on the self sufficiency once we are getting all that telly money.

I don't know either way but we certainly haven't been a model of efficiency for donkeys years so perhaps it should be a case of spending the market rate for players who will get us where SL is aiming for.whatever that may be and do anything to avoid  bloating the squad and shovelling average Champ wages at journeymen just to fit in with what on paper sounds a fair wage structure.

Yeah, they had some actor on (Used to be Finchy (I think in the office but don't quote me on that) & they got to speaking about Leeds (as Finchy is a Leeds fan in real life) & it was mentioned then.

The Bolton wages listed add up to £155,000 every week; £8,060,000 a year.

TV rights etc for the Championship are "only" £7 million so that's over a million short fall to be found from sponsorship and gate revenue. Then of course there's such incidentals as paying stadium staff, the manager and coaches. Then travel to away games plus all the utility bills (electric for floodlights & water for showers and so on). Then there's the cost of the reserves and youth teams.

The TV money in League 1 is two million, so that's an immediate saving of five million to be found.

How in God's name does any court believe they are even remotely solvent?

I think you'll find we have players playing at the moment on far more than that fella.

Leicester wages were also 'leaked' recently... no idea if they are correct though...look at Hamer and Moore.

Stupid quoting system.

As above really...

I said our highest paid player. As in belonging to us. I know that Baker is on half as much again. But as far as contracted Bristol City players go, Kodjia is it.
