Benik Afobe - SIGNING CONFIRMED

Recommended Posts

He’s a decent player at this level. Pleased with this. Okay its not the Arsenal lad but Christ there was no guarantees he would be the messiah.

Afobe will score goals with the right service that is for sure..

Seems his head wasn't in the right place at Stoke which was a factor. Also the club was on a big downer which doesn't help. Probably let him leave as they bought in Scott Hogan yesterday.

What do you mean head not in the right place? Where's he been putting it.

Far from our first choice but at least a striker is in. Had a bit of a lean time recently but if we could get him to play as he used to who knows. Certainly more proven than EN but ultimately goals will decide the better deal.

Here’s a radical suggestion.  Why don’t we give him a half a dozen games or so before deciding whether it’s a good signing or not.

I’m ok with this...played in a dirge stoke side last year, new lease of life with us I think this could work out...clearly capable at this level

No video please City. Just a single tweet stating "Bristol City have completed the loan signing of Benik Afobe. Also, as we are on a downer we decided to flog Pack whilst the money was there too. Come to the QPR game, we'll try to score."

AFOBE JOINS CITY ON SEASON-LONG LOAN

City have added to their forward firepower with the loan signing of Benik Afobe from Stoke City.

Afobe, pictured playing at Ashton Gate in 2018/19, arrives in BS3 on a season-long loan and the Robins do have the option to purchase the Dominican Republic of Congo international.

"Dominican Republic of Congo international". Where is this African/Carribean hybrid country?

The worst part is the error is repeated at the end too. Who writes this shit?

65 goals in 260 games what a signing

Signed for 12 million in January and has accumulated more than 30 million in fees over his tenure including successful seasons within the Championship but of course you know best and more than the professional football managers who've signed him in past..

I’m looking forward to Afobe playing. Having Eliasson whipping in the crosses makes it very exciting.

Indeed providing LJ plays Eliasson that is!

Hoping Afobe is competition for Fammy, not being thought of as a strike partner...

Benfik Adobe Flash Player sings for us and the Democratic Domincan Republic of Soviet Congo streaker will wear the number 42 and 32 shirts respectively.

Good stuff.

Maybe Benfik is the Dom. Rep. spelling and Benik the DRC spelling...

Sh*t !

We thought we'd got Benik Afobe, but no, as if things couldn't get worse, we've actually signed Benfik Afobe from Stalybridge Celtic.

Unwise to look at just the stats without context. He was playing in the Prem in a struggling Bournemouth side for a while and struggled at Stoke recently.

Earlier in his career he was a 1 in 2 striker at MK Dons and Bournemouth.

At 26 years old, still plenty of time to recover his old form.

Stylistically he's a very good fit for us I think. I feel you may be pleasantly surprised...

Every article has an error in it. Every single one. Honestly our number one priority in the January window is a proofreader for the website.

65 league goals in 154 league starts (107 sub appearances).  Better than 1 in 3 goals vs starts almost all at this level or above.

Very good signing I think - and IMO more likely to prove out than the arsenal kiddie as exciting as that might be.

Welcome Benik!

Used to like him but he's lost the plot last season or two, hoping he could be hungry to get his career on track, agree with comment that he could be the type of striker we need (as I still see LJ persisting with one up front) obviously bit of a shambles with the Arsenal lad but this could be worse

I can imagine Afobe making much better use of Elliasons whipped crossed?

He'll probably be subbed just before Eliasson is brought on though.
