I remember the proper cup finals years ago.

3pm kick off, both BBC and ITV programmes started at 9am and went on until 6pm.

Back then the FA cup was something very special.

I’ve had no desire to watch a cup final for well over ten years now, and I’m not going to start today.

Very much my feelings, although I watched today’s final.

I am very pleased I did - I thought it was an excellent match.

I used to be able to name the winners and scorers of every final since the first one I remember (1968) until about the late nineties but didn`t even know who was in the final this year until I saw the fixtures earlier.

I remember getting the answer (after much thought) to the FA Cup football question:

’What do Villa and Sunderland have in common?’

I wonder how many would get it today, without resorting to Google?

Your post got me thinking (I’m similar and could name the teams , results , scorers through 70s and 80s but last 10-15 years , clueless

But , for a bit of fun I tried just now to name the Sunderland 1973 Final side - Without looking , I’m short of three

Can you or anyone name the eleven from memory ? ?

Better than me. I remembered 7 of em

I don’t mind Liverpool to be honest. It’s Man United I cannot stand….

But growing up in the Fergie era, you can understand why.

Me too. Man United fans are far worse than the rest, unbarable growing up

Think the question is normally worded slightly differently Phil

Why do you love Liverpool so much ?

I don't love them. Bristol City is my team, always has been and always will be

But I also enjoy seeing quality football from other clubs and what I've seen from the current  Liverpool side put them up there with some great teams from my past. Real Madrid with Di Stefano and Puskas was thrilling to see and the Benfica side with Eusebio was not far behind. No shame in admiring good quality football from other clubs while supporting City.

Quite possibly, it was several years ago ?.

Whatever, I remember getting the question right, after many ‘No, don’t tell me’ requests, and I still wonder how many (younger than us) would get it right today.

Incidentally, how was the question worded and how does Trevor Brooking fit in to the answer?

Liverpool are my PL club and I’ve disliked Man United for over 50 years.

I’m delighted that Liverpool won the FA cup today. 2 in the bag, 2 more to go.

I find it hard to dislike Liverpool. They don’t go and buy a 100M player every season. They play great attacking football and have a fantastic manager. If you are a fan of the game it would be only jealousy that makes you dislike them. Would love to see West Ham beat the UAE tomorrow to take the PL right to the end

Think it was something like

Sunderland did it in 1979 , Villa in 1981 , who did it in 1980
