On local radio and newspapers today that the club have smashed through the 13,300 season ticket sales with only 700 now left! :worship2:

That really is a tremendous show by the fans on the back of last sat,s defeat, and really does show just how far our club has come in the past couple of seasons.

I should imagine that 14,000 would be the limit as there must be a certain amount left for match day sales plus away support.

And in comparison, the Gas have just smashed through the 400 barrier..... :rofl2br::rofl2br::rofl2br:

This is fantastic news!!!

Has anyone actually received their season ticket yet? I bought mine on 17th May and still not had any confirmation by post.

Was sort of thinking that it may be delayed due to the new smart card system, but didn't want to bug the club in case I was being too premature in chasing them up.

Season tickets will be posted out in June, i recieved no confirmation of my Premium Credit application. I phoned the ticket office to ask if it had all gone through ok and the woman appologised but they can't send out confirmation to everyone due to high demand for tickets. It was then her that told me the ticket/smart card would be posted out in June.

Any news on the new turnstiles at AG??

Cheers for that mate.

You know what its like, with only 700 ST left you start to get twitchy bum time.

Just didn't want to bother those nice people in the ticket office with my stupid question so I though one of the wonderful people on here would know the answer.

Once again thanks ciderscoobz.

Great for the club to sell 13300 STs so far - but in view of the recent threads about partimers I'll ask the question before anyone else does -

Where were all these people last season?

Questions like that can eternally do your nut in and are not worth thinking about. I'm sure you can tell me all about city playing in front of 4,000 in the early eighties, just like i can tell the generation younger than me about watching city play in front of 7/8,000 in the early to mid ninteies.

All you can do is be thankful that they're strating to turn up and sleep easy in the knowledge that you've always been there.

I do.

(And if that fails, pity the gas :rofl2br: )

Some were paying on the day.

Others couldn't afford a season ticket last season and saved up for the coming season.

Some had work or family or educational commitments last season but don't now.

Some didn't come to Ashton Gate very often but due to the fact that they can see positive things happening they are now new season ticket holders.

Why do people need to know "where these people were?"? Do they want to support an increasingly successful and growing football club or do they prefer some small time "loyal private members club" that they can have exclusive access to?

I went through my old programmes a couple of weeks ago and saw about 50 programmes where the attendance probably didn't hit 6k. Perhaps it is because I am becoming an old fart, but I really can't remember the atmosphere being any worse with those 4-6k in the ground than it is with 14-17k.

Also looked back at the Notts County(3rd/4th Round?) replay programme (about 12.5k I think), and the Gate was absolutely rocking.

Its funny though because as time passes, my memory always seems to picture AG full regardless of how many people were in there - although I was there LOADS of times with 4-6k in the ground, I can't remember it being much different than the season just past.

You should get something through the post, I know I did last year. I emailed them the other day as I was worried because a month on and they have yet to take my deposit from my account and they said they were putting off all premier credit applications until after Wembley.

I can answer Robbered on 2 on the new ST's, they are for me and my 9 year old son.

Now am I a part timer and would it matter if I was!!???

I am 40, married (to a football hating wife) and have 4 children aged 12, 10, 5 and 2.

To get to aston gate its a round trip of 4 hours and in petrol terms add £35 to each game I come to. but I still manage about 10 - 12 games per season on a POTD basis.

I was born and bred in Knowle and whilst I always supported city, both my parents were non footy types, so only started regularly attending when I went to work (1989 season - a pretty good one to start with).

for the last 20 years I have worked all round the UK, even when I was based in Scotland and had no money what so ever, I still managed to get to about 5 - 7 games (hitch hiking in the rain for 8 hours on a few memorable occasions).

I also traveled 8 hours by train on one occasion to Bristol to find the game had been called off (frozen stands!! I think was the reason given, but I maybe wrong it was about 15 years ago).

Over the years I have watched city get beat in just about every no good, miserable, wind swept and god forsaken ground in the UK. I have been threatened and intimidated by police and fans alike. I have stood in the rain, I have missed the last train. I have stumbled into bed at 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning, and had to get up for work the following morning.

My wife has complained to marriage consullars that I have "issues" because its like I am "on drugs" for a week after city win and conversly I am depressed when they lose.

I have had to endure supporting city under Russell Osman and Lumsden, I have had to pay good money to see players in the past disgrace the shirt I love, often while kissing the badge. (thank the lord for GJ and the current team who have done us all so proud)

I have held a ST for about 10 of the last 20 years, based on cost and where I lived (never, ever on performance or position!)

i have been a member of the forums since before it was all glossy and flash, I have been warned at work for spending too much time on them...

I bought shares when the club said it would help - (even though I was in debt). I am a foundation member etc, etc...

I have never responded to the "part timer" jibes on here before as I realise it is mainly from inbreds and half witts who think they are true supporters, but are only fools who spend their time getting blind drunk before a game and then spending the 90 minutes yelling at their fellow fans and not even watching their own team play (yep, seen it far too often over the years).

However Robbered, I do respect you and hence the reply...

I have bought the ST's this year as last year I found it difficult to get tickets for a number of games and often had to get two single tickets which is not great with a 10 year old. I also like to watch the match with the other grumbly old men in the Dolman, so have splashed money and got two ST's.

I hope I have highlighted that it takes all sorts to make up a fan base, some like me are born and bred, others come later in life, some are passing through (living in Bristol for a short time) others follow city on line or abroad - ALL OF THEM should be welcomed by us and the club. None should be left behind as we strive to progress and hopefully fill a bigger stadium.

Ta, ta for now!

:clap::clap: Fair play to you. I will be buying two season tickets on Monday, couldnt afford them before now, go to most home games and try to make 4 / 5 away each season. Certainly not a part timer, but wouldnt class myself any better a fan as those who can only make 1 or 2 games a season because of their circumstances.

Can we all PLEASE stop going on about part timers / glory hunters? It's getting really boring now and if we build a new ground then we will need those so called part timers to turn up to fill the stands otherwise it will look very poor.

Wigan Rugby League and Wigan Athletic operate the new turnstyle system, at the JJB stadium there are light reading systems which you use by swiping your credit card sized season ticket across them. It's more efficient that having those little coupons and guards against ticket fraud too.

Not only that, the club will know how many games you've attended each season!

Where were all these people last season?

With an average of around 15,000 Bristol City supporters attending home games last season, it would appear most of them were at Ashton Gate paying those inflated matchday ticket prices and therefore contributing more financially to City than us season ticket holders.

Just to stir the pot a bit..

Alot of people suddenly seem to be able to afford ST's this season and next..

Isnt it more a case of not wanting to afford ST's whilst we were in League 1?

Just a thought.

TICKET RESPONSE IS FANTASTIC - GARY

Posted on: Thu 29 May 2008

Gary Johnson has called the fans' record response to season ticket sales "fantastic".

More than 13,300 supporters signed up for the 2008/09 campaign ahead of City's play-off final appearance at Wembley.

And now the club is releasing 700 more season tickets on Monday morning at 10am on a first-come, first-served basis.

Gary told bcfc.co.uk: "It's been a fantastic response and it's great to see so many signing up even before they knew which division we would be in next season.

"It just shows the support this club has built in the season just gone. Now we can carry that into the next campaign.

"We really appreciate everyone who has signed up so far and when you think about the numbers; having what we hope will be 14,000 season ticket holders in a 19,500-capacity stadium is an unbelievable feat.

Then take it up with Gary Johnston
