  1. Spot on - we’ve seen in the cameos that he’s had at City that he’s clearly a very talented lad and we saw his confidence when taking on opposition Championship defenders. His quick feet were particularly impressive. Nige said back then that he’d have no problem actually starting with him - quite a compliment. Hopefully he’ll flourish at Donny and produce the goods. It’s good to see another club giving the experience of mens football to our player.
  2. Absolutely no way is Conway PL ready, he’s waay short of the necessary quality to play there. However he’d do well in Scottish PL being up against average opposition pretty much every week. The three missing are indeed James, King and Weimann.
  3. Obviously losing three experienced midfielders is a concern for some but none of will know how strong (or otherwise) the squad will be until the pre season starts. My views on Conway are well known and it wouldn’t matter one bit to me if he got transferred. Seriously overrated in my view.
  4. Anyone remember Tony Cascarino playing for Ireland with absolutely no Irish heritage whatsoever? At least Conway has little bit of Scottish in him.
  5. I remember listening to this aged 14 on my little transistor radio under my bedsheets one evening and thinking ‘wow’ what a brilliant song. A Peter Green masterpiece
  6. Yep - it was Trumpton. It’s where the gas used to play………
  7. It’s my opinion Stevie. We’ve seen plenty of natural goalscorers over the years, Bob Taylor, Baldock, Lita, Tony Thorpe and even Maynard and to me Conway isn’t as a natural finisher as these guys were. As I posted earlier Conway doesn’t have that ‘right place, right time’ instinct - how many tap ins did he get? …… I accept that he’s been limited under Manning who played with either TC or Wells, never as a two iirc. It was normally one up top and we all know that that was a problem when getting wide with just one City shirt in the box - that happened numerous time last season. A traditional CF similar to Chris Wood needs to have the physical qualities that Conway doesn’t have but TC would definitely benefit from having a strike partner, maybe then he’d get more tap ins.
  8. The fact that Manning has rarely, if ever played two up top impacts on Conways performances. He’s not built to be a lone CF and why City need a ‘traditional’ CF who’s game encompasses all the attributes to be effective in that role - according to BT one is in the pipeline. I don’t see Conway as a ‘natural born goalscorer’ at all. His game about pace, getting in behind trying to create opportunities but he lacks that ‘right place, right time’ instinct.
  9. You’ll have to remind me Marksy.
  10. I have a different opinion on Conway - personally I think he’s seriously overrated by many City fans and I’m not convinced that he’d be first choice at any other top Championship club. I get that he was City’s top goalscorer last season with 12 league goals including penalties but he’s never struck me as reliable especially with one on ones nor is he a poacher as Tony ‘tap in’ Thorpe was - a player who scored over 50 goals for City. For Conway to get called up into the senior Scotland squad just shows how thin they are up top. Tbh - it wouldn’t bother me one iota if he doesn’t sign a new deal. The drawback is obviously the financial hit City would take when he leaves on a free but putting that aside he could leave tomorrow as far as I’m concerned.
  11. it does seem odd that higher profile managers don’t rate him. There must be elements missing from his game that they notice but the average fan doesn’t see. It could be something simple like not tracking back enough or maybe something about Jack himself and he doesn’t bond well with his teammates - who knows……… To me he’s a flair players, something of a luxury but useful to use late in a game with tiring opposition. His ball skills and quick feet can cause chaos and win free kicks or penalties.
  12. I saw on Sky that the pitches were grown in Florida and transported to the various venues.
  13. It was Russo who was interviewed post match? I thought she scored both goals…….
  14. The England Lioness's are the only women’s football that I bother watching and actually celebrated when Russo scored the first goal with a great strike and again when Hampton (?) pulled off a terrific save low to her left when she moving to her right. I really enjoyed the game.
  15. The first half was like watching paint dry……. Typical Southgate, no flair or enthusiasm. I appreciate that it was a pre tournament warm up and an opportunity to look at various different players but none of them looked as if they were up for it. That said - It was the players that geed themselves up and once the penalty went in the game was pretty much over. I’m bowling Friday so thankfully I’ll miss another turgid England performance.
