Good to see Simpson going around the pitch with his arm around Tanner after the game, perhaps we shouldn’t dismiss the role Simpson is playing in the lad’s development?

Yes, also noticed Simpson got off the bench to put his arm round Benarous & have a word while he was on the touchline waiting to come on. Little things, but important & good to see. COYR

I don’t want to knock the kid, but how much off the standard was he?

Could see a case for taking him back off, so weak and letting his man go repeatedly.

It was like playing with 10 men, not sure he made a single positive contribution.

He looked a bit caught between to me. Wasn’t sure which man to mark, what positions to take up. No different to Bakinson before him, I put that down to formation & possibly having someone so young & inexperienced behind him. But worked hard & will gain from it. COYR

Interesting you say that. I thought we had jelly in goal today. Bentley was a bag of nerves imo today. Having played so poor for 40 minutes and then having the game handed to us in four minutes I did think we would put up a better show than that second half. We literally played 4 minutes of football in 100 minutes today and fortunately it was enough.

Really? Kept us in the game with some good saves when he needed to. COYR

    Does that happen Harry?

I used to work with a bloke who watched games for Rotherham in his spare time. I suppose that makes him an actual scout but he didn't know any more about football than me as far as I was aware and certainly wasn't much of a 5-aside player!

I never understood how he ended up doing it.

A friend of mine who is a Norwich fan scouted for them in the Southwest. This came about after Norwich got relegated (possibly early 2000’s) from the Premiership. He actually made contact with them to offer his services, which they accepted. They then sent him to various games to watch certain players & he had to fill out a report on these players. Which included strengths/weaknesses, & marking individual components of each individuals game. He would then hand in the reports & the club took over from there. It served as a base for the club to move forward or not on each individual. He enjoyed it, bumping in to various football people as well as helping his club. COYR

Doing ok isn't good enough we have a centre half that cost us 8 million Palmer that is a waste of space and the list goes on, We had one good season after that it's been free falling.. Unless we get fresh faces the attitude and quality we produce on a matchday won't improve..

I would say doing ok was doing exactly that. We are average payers in this division, with probably just over average attendances. I would say we had one very good season, followed by average to good seasons. Now we are an absolute shambles & that isn’t based on playing any of the top teams in this division ( for example Forest ). Fresh faces needed I agree, but we are told this lot have a great attitude & are fitter than ever! COYR

It's not been said yet so here goes - jobs for the boys.

Actually I don't care, if he was already doing work here with the young ones, and Tins and Co thinks he can bring something to the team, then congratulations to him. Welcome back Mickey Bell.

As for the media department, getting it wrong once is an error. Getting it wrong more than once, is just unprofessional. I mean, it's not like he has any history with the club at all is it

Give it a few weeks & if results don’t pick up, it will. I’ll add another one, Niger’s little smirk/laugh after he says something will soon start bothering people! COYR

He was just before my time. Was he really head and shoulders in terms of ability above the likes of Noble, JET and Tomlin? All three had incredible natural ability but also never delivered on a regular basis. I feel the highlights reel from those three may exceed Jacki, but could well be wrong.

    Interested to know your opinion....

I would say he was ahead of all 3 that you have mentioned. His balance, touch & vision were above anything I’ve seen in a City shirt, but I accept consistency was his problem. But on their day, him & Cole were unplayable. We saw him on his way down in some ways, but before us he played in a World Cup, scored goals in European competition. His well documented off field habits are what held him back imo. Im fairly sure when he was with us Aston Villa were having a look, but nothing ever came of it obviously. My favourite player of all time, so might be a bit biased! COYR

Scot Murray was as skilled as Jacki and scored many more goals - he’s the one player who filled AG with anticipation when he got the ball. He was truly exciting to watch and yet barely get a mention on here.

Big fan of Scotty the player & on a personal note, but not even close to Jacki in terms of skill. This guy played in a World Cup & scored goals in a European competition. He is what kids go and watch football for, he’s the one they want to emulate in the playground. Yes we had him after his peak in someways, but when someone of Cole’s stature says that he’s one of the most skilled players he ever played, maybe he might be onto something. Players like that are very few & far in between, but I’m glad I got to watch him. COYR

You’re probably not the only one Negan, but I suspect there are far more of us who hold LJ and MA jointly responsible for leaving us right in the shit last season.  They are both also responsible for pissing so much money away in the awful transfer policy and bringing in dross, that we’re now having to scratch around for free transfers, as they completely emptied the transfer kitty.

As an ex-City player I don’t wish him ill, but I personally got sick of his waffle and bullshit, so I can’t honestly say I him any great success after the mess he left us in.

You don’t think Covid has anything to do with scratching around for free transfers? He wasn’t perfect, but that’s quite some statement. It also baffles me that Holdens reign has somehow been deleted from history! COYR

Am I the only one who wants lee Johnson to do well? Weird how fans enjoy his team getting beat. Ex player and manager who has given great service to this club and was honoured to be here. Hope he wins the league with Sunderland myself.

    Ashton however...

No you’re not. Hope he has learned from some of his mistakes at City & improves. Hope Sunderland win the league & get promoted personally. He did a lot more good than bad for City & just don’t get the vitriol he sometimes receives on here. Decent bloke & as you said, was genuinely honoured to be manager of this club. COYR

Afobe best striker out there tonight

Have to agree. Good movement, good touch, good awareness and a decent turn of pace. If he is OOC this summer & has a relatively injury free season, we could do a lot worse. One of my favourite City strikers of recent seasons, my sort of striker. COYR
