  1. They need to stop plugging this 5 pillars thing. It's an embarrassment, claiming to have a unique strategy whereas in reality it's identical to every other professional club in the world.

But our board haven't realised this is what most clubs do and they think they have a special little plan...

  2. It is a strange decision indeed.

    Arrived at (IMO) by the following factors in no specific order of significance;

    1) Results

    2) Anti SOD Brigade (minority) pressure

    3) SOD's lack of charisma or 'passion' (irrelevant)

    4) The board's lack of testes

    5) Lee Johnson

    6) A 'preferred choice' availability window closing fast

Time for the cliches to roll - 'Galvanise' 'Passion' 'Dogfight' 'Every game is a cup final' 'stability' 'confidence back' 'give the fans something to cheer about'

JL said in his interview it was largely down to results, which in reality were improving.

So there is something deeper at work, I think a personality clash (SOD with the board) and our boo boys were the final nail.

This season is a write off, we will likely just survive with a new manager, but would have done under SOD anyway.

SO what is the benefit of sacking him?

Is this the only time that Lee Johnson could be the reason for and the solution to the problem at the same time?

  3. Absolute travesty of a decision, there is nobody on this planet who would get anything more out of this young bunch of players than sod could of. Watch us replace him with someone who hasn't got one iota of sods football knowledge or know how.

Yes we have been very poor this season, but we were improving albeit performance wise not results wise, had we stuck with sod I have no doubt in my mind we would have come good.

Completely disillusioned with this club at the moment. :(

Really?? I'm sure there are loads of top managers that could get more out of the players. Not saying SOD was a crap coach but he's not the best in the world surely?

  4. If you simply base the decision as if it was any other business (not football) Ian Holloway has the best record / cv and is available. In recent times he has the best record of getting clubs to the Premier League etc.

I would accept that business decision and tuck my small minded-ness under my pillow...

What about the customers (fans) leaving in their droves?

  5. The new guy may well do that and more, but conversely he may change things for the worse. If what you're saying is within our system the head coaches only role is to pick the team and formation on a Saturday afternoon then it makes no more sense as we've lost 1 in the last 7, i.e. the tactics are starting to work. I fail to see how we can have a long term coaching structure but not a long term attitude to the coaches operating within it? This isn't Burger King where you can replace your chief burger flipper with an advert in the job centre

As others have said, there must be more to this than just the results and to be honest, if its pretty much any of the names I've seen mentioned so far, I will seriously question the sanity of this board

    Is he available?

  6. Within that "1 in 7" were still utter horsesh1t performances and a load of draws.

His term with us has been one of failure. Some of the worst standard of football I have seen down there in years.

People have said that about all of our last 4 or 5 managers, including GJ.

  7. Why all the panic and insults. SOD himself said that if he leaves then the club structure now in place will make sure the approach and strategy will continue and not change. If we were bottom 4 in January, you would all be on here saying how we were replicating last season where we held on too long. We are in a relegation battle, we have to try and get out of it, and after a relegation last year, just maybe a fresh voice is needed. There will now be endless debate about who comes in, with the likes and dislikes of all thrown in. Whoever it is must buy into the system we now have , but also have some ideas about how we get the team up the table. It probably needs, right now, someone with experience. I still think, due to timing, the club have some ideas already.

So a new manager every week then? Like the presenters on have I got news for you. Maybe season ticket holders could take it in turns to be manager for a week. Great idea...

  8. Spot on as usual.

Johnson, Coppell, Millen, McInnes, O'Driscoll. There's one constant there. They can't all be bad managers, and a couple of them have since proved that they aren't.

    100% agree

  9. 4 choices:

    1) Proven Manager at this level: e.g. SO'D mark 2

    2) Young up and coming manager: U18s coach etc

    3) Old Boy: Carey, Murray etc

    4) Big name: Colin, Di Canio, Skeletor

Can't see the point in option 1, SOD was proven and couldn't succeed, option2 massively risky, option 3 would be a disaster, unless maybe Tinnion has learned a thing or 2, I think it will be option 4...

  10. Ship another one out, bring another one in. Einstein's definition of insanity - doing exactly the same thing over again and expecting a different result...

Starting to think the club is rotten.
