It bloody does, I can tell you!

(id updated Cornick to £500k based on the accounts and a bit of guesswork)

Did your £500k account for agent fees?  Lots of young Bristol City talent on their books.

  2. 20 plus years of the clueless Lansdown family and charlatans and idiots employed by them in positions of authority. Summed up by the current self-serving Tecknical Director.   “High Performance” my ***.  No surprise any “success” under Lansdown has been with managers with the balls to do their own thing in spite of the mess around them.

I thought Mehmeti played more inside in the 1st half, Cam was so far up on the left he was playing as our widest attacker. With Tanner playing his usual defensive role, it was almost like a back 3 with Cam coming back to help out.

I thought first half it was a back 3 and then we stitched back to 4 for the second half.

Absolutely. Far too much opinion stated as fact on this and other threads. I don't have a problem with people having differing opinions, but the disrespect and childish insults being bandied about to suit some people's personal agendas are way below the belt.

For years, many on this forum have criticised the Lansdowns for not knowing enough about football (wrongly in my view). 'We need a football man' they cried - with a certain vagueness about exactly what is meant by a football man. Often I got the impression that it meant 'me', or quite possibly 'my mate down the pub who once played Semi-Pro for Mangotsfield'.

So now they have appointed a football man. A club legend who has played over 500 games for the club, has extensive experience as a coach and manager and a proven track record of success in developing and nurturing young talent both in the UK and abroad. And now some say 'no, not that football man - we meant somebody else'. And when that football man does the job he was employed to do, along with his employers, and replaces a manager who was well-liked but not exactly pulling up trees, he is suddenly a snake?

By all means lets have debate about decisions made. We are never going to agree about everything, and mistakes have been made down the line, and will no doubt be made again in the future. But to suggest that Steve, Jon, Brian et al (and whoever is next in the firing line) don't have the best interests of the club at heart is wrong and disrespectful.

An amateur soccer school in Spain, minimal professional coaching experience, failed manager, no track record as football administrator. But played 500 games and is someone Steve can “trust” so must be the best man for the job. Should have kept his head below the parapet if he can’t handle the heat.

  5. Tinnion has been empowered by Lansdown to run the entire football side of club despite having no credentials to do so. Expect a young “head coach” to join the cosy club where the key is to never employ anyone who might pose a threat or deliver a few home truths due to their superior knowledge and experience

  6. Club statement is absolute bollocks. How the **** do the Lansdown’s think a promotion challenge was a reasonable expectation with that squad.

I expect the wheels to completely fall off now.

  7. Preston had clearly done their homework and nullified Pring going forward through Browne and Potts. They were happy for Tanner to be free knowing that he offers little going forward. Hopefully McCrorie at right back will give us another attacking dimension.

Eh? How’s that? A player that can play multiple positions and is fully established at this level?

Even if we agree he can play multiple positions and is established at this level, I think he’s no better than what we have. On showings so far, behind Sykes and Weimann on the right (plus no better than numerous others who could play there) and a last resort CF based on that short lived experiment in his first few games.

  9. I was impressed by Luke McNally, a 23 year old 6ft 3 centre half on loan at Coventry from Burnley, when I saw him on tv the other week. Seems to be getting good reviews at Coventry and talk they hope to sign him permanently at the end of the season. Would like to think we’d be interested.

Do we if Pearson is set on playing 433?

I'd say we need someone that can play on the left more tbh.

With Conway out for a while yet we have no competition / different type of option off the bench suited to the central striker role. Given our precarious position, I think it’s pretty important we look to get someone in to fill that role and someone who can play on the left.

  11. Chairman chief executive Scott Duxbury said of the deal: “This further protects the club at a time when balancing financial wellbeing and retaining a squad to compete at the top end of the Championship are our top priorities.

“Taking Rob’s (Edwards – head coach) guidance, we’ll review our options at the end of this season once divisional status is confirmed.”

    Taking the piss!
