  1. Well when you consider how much we were going to spend on Gray and Gayle, anything is (unfortunately) possible.

Can you imagine SL sanctioning selling one of our best players if we're still near the bottom? I just can't. Sometimes that's to his detriment. Brentford, for example, would; we often let pride/fear get in the way of rational decision making when it comes to selling players.

  2. Me Very much happy with a point at Ipswich. It's a shame we are still porous at the back, and I'll need to see the highlights before I can discuss how they could've been prevented however a point that was very much needed has been earned.

So what next then? Well a crucial match against MK Dons. Crucial in that

    a) we have to win back points lost from Rotherham

    b) we have to show progression from last season.

Steve has to get us sorted out at home and make teams fear playing at Ashton Gate. The first twenty minutes will be crucial. We cannot concede during them. If we can make it to half time, then that's even better.

I also hope that Kodjia is going under the radar of those in the market for a striker. I fear a situation could arise a la Matt Smith in that he almost could do too well for us and attract interest we can't ignore.

RE: Kodjia he won't unless we get a silly offer.. 7m +. He's probably not on enormous wages either.

  3. Kodjia, as expected, showed all the hallmarks of a striker not quite sharp or in tune with the rest of the team yet - by that I mean his runs and touch which were poor. It'll come.

He barely touched the ball really but I was impressed with his angled shot that went over; the technique was good but more importantly the idea to have that shot in the first place.

Looking forward to watching him improve

  4. It wasn't the final strew was the village greeners case having a very good change of success therefore we would of still been fighting it now if we didn't go to plan b,

That's the only reason sainsburys didn't even come into it

There's no proof that Sainsbury's weren't, other posters are making an assertion about it that could well be true.

  5. Technically yes. In every other sense, whichever way you look at it no.. but it entirely misses the crux of my post which is about big boy crushing the little guy and how, usually, a football fan will abhor that happening. That is ALL i am getting at.

Let me put it another way.. If Rovers had lost a fair fight i would have been broadly neutral and said.. hard luck, better luck next time.. thats just me.

I think why a lot of City fans take glee without considering the wider picture is because of what Aizoon and some others mention ref the Rugby debacle and because Higgs seems to be a bit of a hate figure. That in today's world is fair enough.

I enjoy these situations because it's Rovers and they'd be exactly the same if it was us, it's broadly better for us if they fade into nothingness and City continue to improve.

Anything major that hinders them like this helps us, although you can't beat a Bristol derby atmosphere.

  6. I get the rivalry but why anyone would want a supermarket chain to win a court case against a football club is beyond me. I hope Sainsburys lose.

It's bad for them and good for us really if they lose, they certainly wouldn't want us to win if roles were reversed.

  7. Wow. They've finally managed to create a relatively decent sticker. We've been punting great quality out for years now whilst they've only managed a few pieces of utter garbage in response.

Good to see they're trying to catch up, though of course we're streets ahead. Forever in our shadow.

I personally like "make us dream"; whereas for Liverpool it was the first prem title in ages when they used it, for rovers it's just about promotion back into sub-mediocrity.
  8. Not sure what to expect result wise, draw would be just fine. Will be a real test not only today but on how our defence might fare up against Championship sides, as with Garner, Beckford & Gallagher prompted by that player they have on loan from Villa Preston have a championship forward line.

Agreed. Tough one today, envious of their forward line. To our credit this side are usually pretty good in high pressure games.

  9. Let me think long and hard about getting a negative into this thread! Oh yes, crap fans. FFS.

It's not a negative as such, just an observation. It was pretty embarrassing atmosphere wise. Only really sung after goals/at the end/start of each half.

Other away atmospheres (crawley, orient) were much better. I find generally when it's not a complete sell out, atmosphere is better. Exception to this was MK Dons but even then it wasn't constant noise.

On that open terrace noise doesn't carry well though.

  10. The atmos was shocking but lets be honest who cares - we are 15 points clear of 3rd place,

We sang when we scored, we sang when we won....thats fine. What did crack me up - we are 15 pts clear and a few fans sat around me were still moaning about missed placed passes whilst 2 nil up - that is far more worrying than a lack of atmosphere tonight. Some fans need to get a grip !

At crawley there was a great atmosphere with half the number.. And a good result. I'd rather have both. No excuse for a poor atmosphere in our current circumstances!
