SL is able to dip into his pockets to pay for the improvements at the Gate, but it seems unlikely that the al-Qadis could do the same with the higher costs of a new build. It's worth remembeting too that although the Blue Few stress that it is the family that have taken over their club, not the individual, it's only the chairman who is recorded as having an interest in football - and he's not even the senior family member! I would be relieved if I were them that administration in June has been staved off by this takeover, but I'd still be very wary about the future. As some of the more prescient Gasheads on here note, it's as likely to be shit as sugar.

I suppose the point of being a banker is it might be not too difficult to persuade the bank to lend the Gas the cash to cover the UWE (and court) costs - and of course to cover any shortage of funds the "billionaire" may have. Such a transaction however could only be made on commercial terms though. A substantial repayment WILL be required.

A lot of the Blue Few are confusing the capitalisation of the banks which the al-Qadi's are part (note that word) owners of, with the worth of the family as a whole. As we know, banks' money belongs to investors and savers not the business per se and is capitalised at typically 20x the value of deposits. I'm sure they are wealthy enough to write off the Gas debts, underwrite continuing losses and possibly build the UWE bowl with no sale required. They will want a return eventually however. They are not in the "throwing money continuously at a club" league. Were I a [shudder to think] R****s fan, I would be worrying about when that payback will be required.

Purely a planning designation. Northampton was one of the Viking Burghs of England and a major town since Saxon times. Peterborough was also largeish. Other towns founded or expanded dramatically in the post-war period are not designated new towns: Yate, Swindon and Andover for example.

Not so sure about that. I think it was the Northampton disaster that left him in the football doldrums.

Surprised people are disappointed we weren't as good as a top flight side whose squad costs more than our side and the rebuild put together. We didn't disgrace ourselves and we now move on to the business of getting ourselves safe in the league.
