  1. Unfair comparison, perhaps, but Ronaldo is 36!
  2. Thanks very much fellow reds- interesting! It made me check out Paterson's stats - he's Swansea's top player on Sofascore with average rating of 7.31!!! How did that happen??? Also happened to see that the only City player I could find in the top 3 of any category was Chris Martin coming an impressive 3rd in "Big Chances Missed"!! However, to be fair, the top two of that table are Solanke and Mitrovic who are 2nd and 1st top goalscorer respectively.
  3. It's madness to be calling for Lansdown to go - as others have said - who would buy anyway? But I would rather he'd have prioritised getting decent football brains in before building the fancy stadium and training facilities and, most of all, before he had the idea of Bristol Sport. Good football should have been the priority- not rugby or basketball. That stuff is just vanity project.
  4. What I said about last minute goals in another thread being a sign of weak mentality also stands for conceding early goals ?
  5. For me, conceding or scoring goals in the closing minutes of the first or second half is very often a question of mentality. I seem to remember in our play off season under Gary Johnson, we often scored right at the close. It seems to me that nowadays and for quite a few seasons recently we are the ones who concede. Any team with any sense knows to attack us because we seem unable to "game manage". With a boss as experienced as Nige, I am really shocked that today we were torn apart in injury time. It's a disgrace. We have plenty of seasoned pros in the team who must know about game management. Does anyone know how to run the stats on our record for conceding / scoring in, say the last 5 minutes of either first or second halves? I think it would tell us a lot about the psychology of our team.
  6. you're right - it always has been but it's high time things changed. It's such an out of date response - kind of Victorian. Kids go to every football match and hear all kinds of bad language. The idea that anyone could be seriously offended by hearing the odd swear word in the background when watching football on TV is ridiculous.
  7. Was just thinking he must be coming up to his first anniversary being here? He's absolutely turned it round. Cleared out the dead wood, made a small number of strategic signings, and instilled a high performance culture.
  8. Martin and Wells are not good enough today. Are they ever?
  9. Hope it was organic! Lucky it wasn't guacamole.
  10. I hadn't thought of that. He probably just had a really bad 3 month appraisal from HR in the US and got told that his key area for improvement was in Customer Services.
  11. Same! I had to check the score again. They beat Lincoln, who've already lost 3 times this season, 1-0 ! Reckon he's feeling the pressure?
  12. Imagine what he'll do when they win the Premiership.
  13. Really hope Bakinson steps up today. Great potential needs to knuckle down.
  14. The more distance we've got from Mark Ashton, the clearer it is what a bad influence he was. LJ ran out of road with us but he's as true a Red as you'll find, if you think about it. HIs dad was manager, he was a player and then Head Coach etc... He was a promising young manager and he didn't do a bad job for us overall given how little experience he had. We really needed someone with serious football experience in that director of football role to support him ... not a flash ego in a fancy suit. With Pearson and Gould we do now have a nice mix of football and commercial experience. The future's bright. Just the present that's still a bit sh!t
  15. Not sure that middle income earners don't sing. Rugger b*ggers are more likely to be in that category and they can't stop singing African American spiritual songs. Never watched egg chasing down the Gate myself - do they sing Swing Low?
  16. Agree with you. The acoustics at Ashton Gate have never been great. The Dolman was just plonked on the side when first built - they've put seats in front of it but it sound doesn't resonate around the stadium. Most of the sound just floats into the sky - there's no low roof to reflect sound waves back into the arena.
  17. Much appreciate your post - very depressing reading though it certainly is.
  18. i think Colin's latest mob will beat Leeds today so we could do with a point to keep some distance. We want Fulham to beat MKDonkeys and that would pretty much seal their fate I reckon alongside bolton And Charlton. And if were to take all three points too? we'd be safe .... well - just a thought!
