  1. Bentley inspires so much more confidence, in my opinion. Frankly, though, we're not going up, we're not going down. If we think it's beneficial to be giving O'Leary the experience and game time to the end of the season - so be it.
  2. We never make it easy. But big three points. Think I might go Luton now.
  3. Seems that Gregor is no longer at the Post. Any idea why?
  4. I don’t think we’re in particular trouble but I can see Peterborough picking up form. It feels like there’s always one team who does. I pray Cardiff slip into big trouble…
  5. Personal favourite bit here is the missed open goal at 1:45. 'Missed' is being kind.
  6. Doncaster go from being 3-0 up at HT to losing 4-3 at Morecambe. There is always somebody worse off than you, as a football fan.
  7. I obviously wasn’t paying attention in December. Why was Atkinson dropped? I thought he was getting good reviews earlier this season.
  8. Seven academy players in the starting 11. Great to see.
  9. The second yellow would have been a good yellow to take if you weren’t already on a yellow bloody card! Moronic. But at least he’s fronted up, fair play.
  10. Problem with this team is despite it being a good performance it doesn’t feel like it’s all building towards something. There’s every chance they’ll come out against Millwall on Sunday and play crap!
  11. Bridgwater knocked Crystal Palace out of the women’s FA cup over the weekend. Decent scalp.
  12. Didn’t feel it warranted a new thread, so thought I’d stick it here on the relative non-league chat: Freddie Hinds (remember him?) has just signed for my non-league team Wingate and Finchley. That’s division 7. City only released him this summer. Crazy how far players can drop but good luck to the man, surely he’s too good for the isthmian premier league.
  13. I’d actually dispute this, having lived in Liverpool for a few years. Won’t go into your ‘anger and bitterness’ comment re Scousers in general but safe to say I disagree. On the footballing front, in the city Everton and Liverpool are equals. And there’s a lot of respect between the two sets of fans and the clubs in general - a lot due to Hillsbrough. Yeah, they’re rivals. And yeah, I’m sure there’s some idiots. But because allegiances go across families and friends, in general it’s quite a friendly rivalry. You wouldn’t find many who attest to genuinely hating the other side in the way that some on here feel about Rovers.
  14. Everton have spent somewhere close to half a billion quid in recent seasons and are going backwards. Since 1995, they've hardly troubled the top four and hardly been threatened with relegation, and haven't won a cup. Absolute snooze. Since then we've what, been relegated three times and promoted three times? And won at Wembley twice, and lost at Wembley twice, Millennium once... and made a semi-final of a 'proper' cup too. We might be shite, but we're more interesting at least.
  15. City are my team, and they always will be. BUT I have to say, having discovered non-league during lockdown, I’m having much more fun watching division 7 football with my friends instead. Because the emphasis (at least with my group of mates, you do still get some obsessives even at this level) is fun. It’s just a couple of pints, a catch-up, a laugh on a Saturday afternoon with some surprisingly good entertainment on show. I can honestly say, I’ve never left a match without feeling like I’ve had a good time. That is not something I can say for Bristol City… Championship football is a results business. They’re not there to entertain us. I’ve also become completely disillusioned with the goal of the premier league - I really can’t be bothered watching us - for the most part - cling on for 90 minutes, and celebrate 17th season after season. I think every single City fan has more fun in League One. But saying so is taboo.
  16. Oh really? Just out of nosiness, why have they been a disgrace?
  17. I love the different perspective non-league gives you. I was hoping for a big away day at St Albans before we were knocked out! The idea of getting someone like Grimsby is dreamland stuff.
  18. I’d like to keep hearing about the women’s team. Please keep posting. Thanks.
  19. Yeah they seem to have a solid following in Brazil. As far as I know the Corinthian club in Brazil is actually named after the English club though! Socrates himself made an appearance for Corinthian Causals. And the non league team toured Brazil in 2015, playing the Brazilian Corinthians side in front of 30,00 people! Quite an interesting story: https://footballwhispers.com/blog/favela-parties-food-drives-facebook-superstars-inside-story-corinthian-casuals-brazil/
  20. Corinthian Casuals scored an absolute worldie on Saturday: https://twitter.com/MeuTimao/status/1444322250677792773?s=20
  21. Then again, our equaliser would have been reviewed and 100% ruled out for offside so, overall, think we did alright on the refereeing decisions.
  22. The win. At the end of the season, where does a point get us.
