I'm off to bed now.
Good night everyone.
Nite.

I think Freeman should have been brought on around 60-65 min and JET around the 75 mark. What's he going to do in 1 minute?
We can wave goodbye to JET imo...
...Cotterill is not the sort of manager to build a team to accomodate a luxury player...
...quite rightly if you ask me.
We all know what JET can do, but he doesn't always do it.
Our promotion sides under Jordan, Ward and Johnson could not have accomodated a player like JET, despite his quality.
It's unfortunate, but I fully expect JET to have gone soon... and as I believe that we have finally got the right manager, I am happy to go along with it.

An old woman had a parrot that was prone to swearing.
One day, the old woman said to the parrot, "The vicar is coming this afternoon... please please don't swear".
"Ok", said the parrot.
The vicar arrived and immediately noticed that the parrot had a ribbon tied to each leg.
"What are the ribbons for?", he asked.
The old woman replied, "Well... when I pull the left ribbon, he sings Abide With Me... when I pull the right ribbon, he recites the Lord's Prayer".
"Amazing", said the vicar. "And what does he do when you pull both ribbons together? ".
"I fall off my ******* perch, you *****!", replied the parrot.

Just checked the result from sunny Orlando, cracking result... Right, back to the pool and a beer to enjoy now
If I wasn't so happy I'd hate you.

I think that some people are prejudiced against Pitman...
...which may be because of Jed Pitman...
...so that's fair enough.

Maybe so but he scored just 20 times in nearly 80 games. If Baldock isn't driven out by the time he's played 80 games for us he could be on 30-35
I don't know how often he starts for Bournemouth but he's on 5 in 24 this season. So still VERY strange for people to be lamenting him as the one who got away when our only out and out striker who starts games is considerably more prolific.
Less clinical perhaps, but still by far the more prolific striker.
I don't know how much Pitman starts for Bournemouth either...
...maybe you are right.
I do know that I wish we'd had Pitman on the bench today.
-
Not if you break it down to minutes on the pitch. Baldock is ever present. The stats are still incomparible.
Pitman finished better than Baldock in the one on one environment, but Baldock scores more goals.
Personally I'd rather have someone who will give you 20 a season than someone that is more "clinical" but doesn't make enough chances. 1 in 2 is better than 1 in 4 whichever way you slice it up.
Anyway, I don't wish to slate Baldock. As I have stated in a previous post, his goal to games ratio this season is as much as the most optomistic fan could have asked from him.
I just don't happen to believe that he is a 'natural' finisher. Pitman was one of the most 'natural' finishers I have seen in my time at the gate, along with Bob Taylor and (in his time with us) Leroy Lita.
Oh, and Andy Cole, of course.
-
Pitman scored almost 1 in 4 for us, Baldock is close to double that, yet everyone talks about how clinical Pitman is.
Because Pitman was largely coming off the bench??
-
He wouldn't have had them!!
Common misconception re Pitman due to his (unjust) "lazy" tag.
He knew when to make runs and saved his energy for those situations...
...therfore it is highly likely that he would have indeed had those chances.
-
Pitman has those chances - we win the game.
End of
True dat.

Very much reminds me of Tony Thorpe.
Had much more confidence in Thorpe. Far more natural finisher.
Having said that, I've always been of the opinion that if a striker scores he's pretty much done his job.
Baldock is frustrating but goal tally so far is as much as anyone could have asked of him.
A testament to the team I think, as a natural finisher he is not. (IMO).

Going back a bit.......1988 I think.........League Cup Q/F took 2,500 of which i was one........won 1-0 goalscorer could have been Alan Walsh, then went back to my overnight guesthouse for two or a few ....and heard we had Notts Forest in the semis next morning.........good times
I think we scored in the first ten minutes of the game, the lads in the second car of our group couldn't find a parking scace and turned up 15 mins late..... bugger! ;-)
It was the first two minutes. Had only just got to our place in the tinpot terrace stand when we were surged down about thirty feet! Spent the rest of the game with a bloke behind us blowing an airhorn every two minutes... ears were ringing for days afterwards! Longest 88 minutes ever. Good times indeed!

I saw two kids in Gas shirts playing football with a hedgehog the other day.
I was horrified.
I was just about to call the RSPCA...
...but the hedgehog went 1-0 up.

Three pages on Holloway?... seriously?
I don't think that there is anyone 'lined up', but although I haven't got a clue who the next guy will be, the board would have to he suicidal to appoint Hollowhead... and he wouldn't be stupid enough to come here... just IMO btw.

Aah... I see...

You don't know what you talk about.
Show some respect for a good honest man.
If that is sarcasm, it is brilliant!

I slapped the Mrs last night because my dinner was cold...
...although in retrospect, it may have been the restaurants fault.

I went to see Ernie Wise once.
Asked him to put me in touch with my dead Grandmother.
He couldn't do it.
Turns out he was a sidekick.

Pointless it's not a two horse race, besides I hate these stupid poles, just get on with your lives there are surely more important things to worry about
I quite like the Polish actually...

Personally, considering his wages, transfer fee and his age I think he wouldn't be a cost effective move.
Rumours have his wages anywhere as high as £30k a week, I doubt it's quite that high, but still. We might be on a very healthy financial footing but those wages are not a trend we should be following if we want to be sustainable.
His age (he's 30 isn't he?) means he doesn't have long left as a top end striker, and while he might have the guile and experience a younger player would lack I'd personally like to see us going with players who have a chance of retaining their value.
No doubting he would be a good foil for Maynard, his record is pretty decent. But finance, age and even his abject loan spell at Reading last season would cause me to look elsewhere.
He was on a reported 30k a week when on loan at middlesboro, cannot see any point in paying that for a 30 year old whose best years are probably behind him. What will Maynard demand if we want him to stay when a player is getting paid at least double what he is?
Well exactly...
Next please...
