  1. From the film "The man who would be King"? Michael Caine and Sean Connery who uttered that phrase.
  2. Northants have won the T20 three times in our years. Announced on our local news tonight that as the ECB is losing money, a new T20 format is under consideration. Bye bye the small counties., the new format will be just eight franchises based at the eight most heavily attended venues.
  3. http://www.efl.com/global/appendix1.aspx Rule 1.4 gives them until their 4th season in the Championship to make it an all seater stadium. Rules 9 to 27 stipulate the standard the stadium must meet.
  4. Page three http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/8112/start-development-uwe?page=3 there are some common sense posts there; "There are loads of situations right through the top 5 divisions where smaller clubs are above bigger clubs in the league pyramid. If that wasn't the case football would be crap.Personally I don't really care that much whether we are above them or below them in the league. I don't see being a Gashead as a constant mission to be higher in the league than them, the way I see it is being a Gashead is great and I hear shitheads talking about their club ( mates included) and it sounds so plastic and shallow. We don't have to be higher above them in the league to be better than them. I've got peace of mind". and others, well; "Gashead good, shythead bad, league position a sideshow for me but would still love to be above them. Enjoyed the Conference as much as league football but looking forward to the Championship next year and the Premiership the year after. Can't wait to see Chelsea etc at the mem for a season before the UWE".
  5. Think back to the early 60s. Didn't Rovers then have a publicly announced club POLICY of "No buy, no sell"?
  6. You're 70 miles out there. The Fens are round P'boro'. It's the Broads (also low lying) round Narrch.
  7. With regards to the post about playing Man U; here's four results from the 74-75 season from the Man U website. 21 Sep 1974 Manchester United v Bristol Rovers W 2-0 League Division Two 09 Nov 1974 Bristol City v Manchester United L 1-0 League Division Two 01 Feb 1975 Manchester United v Bristol City L 0-1 League Division Two 28 Mar 1975 Bristol Rovers v Manchester United D 1-1 League Division Two
  8. The same place you can purchase blue & white quarter patterned toilet paper. Now why ain't that on sale in the City Superstore?
  9. Is it one of those "marquee" signings?
  10. Well said mate; regardless of who you support, that statement show's you're a genuine fan.
  11. Not just Scunny's opponents; anyone else notice amongst yesterday's results Blackburn lost by conceding four and Donny lost letting in three. The connection being their "surname".
  12. Bobby Kellard. He wore 10 and the scorers were players 7-11, although they didn't score in numerical order.
  13. That Swindon Speedway new track saga is now sounding like a second UWE; "Now report in the local paper http://www.swindonad.../?ref=mrb&lp=15 The stadium should have been finished ages ago. Remember they still have issues re the parking numbers. It's one thing having a stadium that can be easily and quickly built, but you have to get the planning permission first. There's plenty of talk to say all is well and somehow construction is about to start, but when you actually look at the documentation you see a very different story. Anyone would think people were hoping that nobody had the ability to read and understand it".
  14. On this forum there are frequent jibs at the entire town of Swindon, not just it's football team. Their speedway team is trying to get a new track and the story has become a long drawn out saga, which is why I've posted in this thread. This comment below is from a speedway forum and sounds soooooo similar to the UWE ground for Rovers story. Certain people at the stadium also keep claiming that planning permission has been granted and that construction was just about to start. I have no idea where they get their information from. I have been hearing this for at least a year.
  15. River deep, mountain high.
  16. Perhaps it's a cunning plan. DC can get a team into League 1 in consecutive seasons!
  17. "Black is black" to "Black night" to "Black & white rag" to "Rag doll" to "Living doll" to "living on an island" to "Island in the sun"
  18. A city win coupled with just draws for Forest, B'burn & Reading would lift us three more places to "mid table respectability". HT and Forest are drawing whilst BB & Reading are playing each other and is currently 2-1. Reading to equalise and a late winner for City please.
  19. Will the real Bristol City stand up please? Do the double over M'bro' but struggle against Rotherham then today's fluctuating game crops up
  20. How about Somerset Rebels speedway team moving North and reforming as Bristol Bulldogs?
  21. When Jeff Stelling went over to Sixfields after the equaliser, the reporter there said "The game isn't over, but Bristol Rovers fans have invaded the pitch and are letting off flares".
