  1. How come Sheff U started & finished the season with home games?
  2. Damn! Only the eight. One more goal today and we'd have scored 3,200 over the years at this level
  3. Yep! City had to fight and come from behind to rescue a point at home and they did! Well done City. Looking at other results, fourth is now the lowest City can finish this season. As so often over the years the Easter fixtures will settle many issues. In League 2, for some reason I don't mind Hartlepool climbing out of the bottom two, but I'm upset to see Cheltenham replace them. Tranmere, Carlisle & York; any of those two going out I'll be happy with.
  4. I know I've posted this before, but it's worth repeating. There isan anthology "my favourite year" in which fans of various clubs describe their club's best year. Matt Nation wrote a chapter aboput City, with the memorable line " A City away win was never complete unless it coincided wuth a Rovers home defeat". I must admit, I was worried yesterday. CRewe were struggling and we lost there. ColchesteR were struggling and we lost there, so when CRawley equalised, I feared the worst.
  5. Darren F on today's local radio; "It was disappointing to lose to two goals from set pieces, a corner and a throw in". The sports reporter stated "it was a comfortable win for Bristol City; Posh only had one shot all night". Several people have posted City are seven points ahead of third place. One stat that's slipped under the radar; City are 21 points ahead of 7th place. Three more obscure stats to give "nice round figures" and with 16 games to go, at least one should be achieved ; 30 more points for a 5,200 points since joining the League in 1901. 31 more goals for 6,350 goals since joining the League in 1901. 44 more goals for 3,200 in the third tier.
  6. Before the game in October Darren F said on the local radio "This game will define our season". This morning he told listeners "I think we can spring a surprise on Bristol City". At least he used our full & proper name, not just "Bristol".
  7. Being reflective; a case of "swings & roundabouts"? Six months ago, many members of this forum expected us to lose at Brammall Lane. As someone else posted, upwards & onwards.
  8. The gas would (claim to) have 10 times that figure if they were playing this fixture.
  9. If MK win, they are one point ahead of City, but we have a game in hand. A draw maintains the status quo. A win for City, not only increases our lead to five points with a GIH, but every goal we score adds to our GD and diminishes theirs. It's MK who'll be thinking "Vital not to lose".
  10. Has anyone notified the Gillingham management and fans yet? Every team City have played in the JPT (and it's predecessors) Area Final has been relegated to the Conference a few years later. Hereford, Aldershot, Exeter, Cambridge and Rovers.
  11. Yes we did beat Yeovil; meanwhile:- Crewe won again today. Perhaps we played them just as they turned a corner in their performance.
  12. It used to be a popular quiz question; "Name all five football league teams with a X in their name". The answer was Halifax, Oxford, Exeter, Wrexham and Crewe. Crewe are the only one not to have dropped into the Conference yet. For those without tickets, no need to POTD. Turn left on leaving the railway station and near the junction of Nantwich Road and Gresty Lane there is a set of railings where you can stand on the pavement and look through and see about 85% of the pitch.
  13. I've lost count; is that 5 of the last 6 or 6 wins out of the last 7 visits to London Road?
  14. PUFC have history in this. League Cup at AG, Ribiero was taken out early in the game. new year's day league fixture; they had to lend us Craig Ireland after one of our players was taken out ---------- in the tunnel at half time! Two season's ago up here; three of our players were stretchered off which weakened us enough to result in relegation. Last season, Assombalonga suddenly dropped to the ground and got El Abd sent off. Mind you they also attack themselves. During a game at AG the then Manager, Barry Fry had an argument with Coach Bobby Gould, so sacked him at half time and left Bobby to make his own way home.
  15. Today's game passed two milestones. 1. it was City's 4,400th League game and 2. our 1,700th League win. Score four more League goals and that will be 6,300 since the 1901-02 season. 58 more points (currently that's mathematically feasible) to have racked up 5,200.
  16. Icing on the cake for me? On BBC Radio Cambs, it was announced P'boro had lost to three of the bottom four teams and today faced the bottom club. Fergusson assured listeners, Posh wouldn't wobble like they did a year ago. Well done Mark Robins for leading Scunny to a win at London Road. Also well done Rovers. Three nil down home to Lincoln, but Forest Green fought back to draw 3-3.
  17. City's match v Oldham: 1 - will be City's 4,400th League game. 2 - and a win will be our 1,700th all time League victory and our 860th at this level 3- hit five goals and City will have scored 6.300 in 103 seasons
  18. I fear the remainder of the season's home games will be like today. Defence minded oppos who'll try kicking us off the park.
  19. Reading the text commentary, it appears Scunny are trying to kick City off the pitch. Presumably every team in this division will do that as the only way of stopping us?
  20. Wolves in their Old Gold? Northampton in that cross between dark red & purple? I didn't think any team played in brown, but so many fans round the country will occasionally utter "I think we looked like a load of s##t today"!
