Durham now 74/5, waiting for this wicket to get reported for being poor... 15 wickets on day 1 with over an hour to go.

I know Taunton has a reputation for a road but that wicket is ridiculous, its practically green. To then choose to bat on it, I'm not surprised we were all out in that fashion.

Any reason why Somerset (group winners) get made to play away in the semi final, to a team who finished 2nd or 3rd? Same point are Northants going to have to be away to Kent/Yorkshire if they make it through?

Sign good overseas player.... for 3 games. I really hope Somerset put better thought into the signing of overseas players for next season. Maybe actually signing players who will play full parts of campaigns, signing Rogers was fine, but we needed someone signed for the entire 50 over campaign to make up for Rogers not playing. Similar with T20, we knew Gayle could only play 6 games, wouldn't have been any good had we actually had a good qualifying and progressed, we needed 2 guys who could play the entire campaign again.

Essex supposedly wanting to talk to Alex Hales and Varun Chopra whose contracts both expire this season, Somerset could do worse than looking to bring Chopra in for next season, first class average of around 37, list a average of 42, how much longer will Tres be playing 4 day cricket for? Would enquiring about Hales also be worth it for the occasions he'd be available? Surely England would rather he went to a Div 1 side ( ) and where better than the batting paradise.

Have to say I wouldn't mind Somerset signing Mendis as our overseas player for next season, tidy batsman.

Should get Andy Flower on the phone and see if he'd like a change from the lions and take a county instead.

Good win for Somerset, strange they didn't give Waller his last over, good effort by Gregory with both bat and ball. However they need to sort out the leaving the ground, worse than getting out of Ashton Gate, infront of the Ondaatje pavilion they try to have two walkways one for each direction, people just ignored it and you had people walking each way in both sections.

Hopefully this season will be a lesson to the powers that be at Somerset that you actually need some bowling to be able to win T20 matches and not just Gayle regardless of how many tickets he sells. The cost of bringing in him, Jaya and Arafat (suspect he's kolpak?) must surely have amounted to 2 good enough international players, does anyone think Davies is good enough? He's batting at 8 and averaging 8... Somerset should have brought in a keeper as overseas player for the year if possible rather than taking the punt. They have the money for Gayle, could you imagine getting AB, de Kock, Wade etc over here for the season or as much of it as possible? The other big part Somerset needed was a bowler, the two I'd have liked to have seen would have been Boult or Southee.

Have to agree, bowling has been Somerset's week point for a long time, consider that GLAMORGAN have just brought in Steyn and we've brought in Arafat, the clubs obsession of bringing in Gayle is hurting us rather than helping us. I'd have much rather see us bring in someone like de Kock and a quality seam bowler.

Glamorgan of all teams have signed Steyn for the first half of the T20 Blast.

Happy the Essex game isn't on tv, got tickets to that one so would be a waste. Expect most of Somerset's appearances on the box to be T20 due to Gayle.

Horrible news about Taylor, just breaking into the England set up and primed to be around for years, worse still is how the condition means he can't even play recreationally any more, something that may not really kick in for him for a while. Hopefully he finds a new career path soon and lands on both feet.

Feel Somerset are going all out with the bat to try and win as normal, feel our bowling attack may let us down (again.....) this season. Really wanted us to use the other spot to sign an overseas keeper for T20, if Davies doesn't work out we're looking at Barrow or Trescothick behind the stumps again. Any of de Kock, AB, McCullum or Wade would have been very exciting.
